New Guy from IL
on: August 04, 2015, 05:26:44 PM
Found you guys while doing some further searching when EDC forums made it to the two week mark of not approving my membership (Belong to a ton of forums and never has that been the case)

Anywho glad to be here. I have had quite a few multitools in the past and have changed them depending on the jobs/companies I worked for (mostly construction), but after breaking a couple cheaper leathermans and losing my skeletool I am left only with a Gerber Dime. I use most of my other EDC items much more often than a MT anyway.

Glad to be here.

Greetings and Welcome.  Hopefully you sent those broken tools back to Leatherman.

The blast is still in my bag. I need to fill out the paperwork to send it back and get the eyeglass screwdriver and small flat screw driver replaced. The other leatherman (can't remember which model) was tossed into the lake when the small screwdriver tip broke off, the skeletool fell out of the carpenter pants pocket of my winter bib overalls so I don't know where that one is

Bummer about the lost tool.  LM will make it right with your Blast and the turn around is pretty good.

Welcome.

Sounds like you work your tools pretty hard, so it might be worth considering an MT with a full 1/4 hex bit driver so you can:

 (a) use good quality bits with toughened tips that are less likely to break or tweak, and

 (b) have spares if (when ? :pok:  ;) ) they do break/tweak

Yep I agree. Kinda what I liked about the skeletool but it wasn't perfect either. I'd like to spend under $100 so maybe the wave? The blast broke from prying with the drivers so maybe a mini pry bar would be something worth carrying.

You guys got me more addicted than I should be. Ordered a skinth M shield today so it should be a race to see what gets here first. My repaired blast or the skinth.

Pocket Wrench 2 might fit the bill as far as prybar also it makes a good wrench when you come up against bolt/nut.  It's not a bad driver and has capacity to drive 1/4 bits too.  If you dont need a larger pry tool then I think for the money the Gerber Shard is pretty good as well.

Hello and Welcome a from Australia! may I recommend a Victorinox Swiss Tool... Plenty heavy duty for trade use and has a huge flat screwdriver that doubles as a great prying tool... Not sure if it's in your price range tho??
