I think I'll give this a shot.

00 - Kampfer - ByrdRench
01 - Obi1shinobee - Navitool
02 - vartz04 - pheasants forever bird hunter
03 - Etherealicer - Böker Tech-Tool City 3
04 - shark.za - CRKT ZillaTool Junior
05- Thisjk38- Rugged "Go2" knife
06- Lynn LeFey - Coghlan's 7 Function Army Knife

I got this knife for $2 plus tax at Rural King last year. I have tested a number of its functions individually, and have been generally pleased that it's not a complete piece of fertilizer. We'll see how long i can tolerate it.

Oh go on then - I am in ...

Knock off Vic Fisherman - But is actually a five layer - The fifth layer will be revealed during this month
Grrr - Why am I doing this to myself  ??? ......
  • Well maybe I cant resist a challenge?
  • Maybe I am taking one for the team?  - Dubious - as we all know, and hate, distrust etc, knock offs already!!
  • Well the prize is very nice of course -  :D Thanks Kampf
  • But mainly - I bought this knife to see how bad Chinese knock offs really are - I have only visually 'used' it so far - So what better way to explore its capabilities than using it for a month
  • Also the last minute rule changed helped as I could use my other non brand tools - see my post above - Well done K!
Although I do already feel disloyal and guilty to Victorinox for doing this......
And am very annoyed by these blatant knock offs - You will see they have even copied the Vic shield etc etc

Hopefully the excercise will be fun, funny and maybe even revealing as we explore the tools and capability during the month
And after one day of use I am already expecting the knife to do OK in some areas

Oh my  ??? ...
Just as I previewed this post Lynn's entry came up
- Looks like she had the same idea (and almost the same knife) as me
- Grrrr again - Mine cost $10 (including shipping) - Probably worth $2!!

Updated list of fellow sufferers...

Day 1: First violation,
Need to cut some heavy duty double sided tape, Byrdrench has no scissors so this is not a good start for him.

That is a brave entry.
That knife has p.o.s. written all over. I can only imagine the shame having to use it in public.

Mine is two layers slimmer. I do believe I know what your mystery layer is.

I think this is a tool worth giving solid testing to, so don't feel bad about 'duplicating' it. I look forward to seeing the horrors... err... I mean 'joys' you face using it.  :D

I'm most interested in the Coghlans knife as they are readily available over here and I have advised people to stay away.
Maybe I am wrong?!

So day one started out a little rough for me. I received the Rugger Go2 knife in the morning and realized that not only was it dull but had a horrible grinding on it. The scissors were a disappointment. I was hoping they would be larger and open a lot more than they do. The rest of the tool is a little bulky butnot so bad. Everything opens smoothly and seems to work so far.

Since I received it the morning I had to carry it all day with it being dull. Once I got home from work yesterday, I put it on my Work Sharp Guided Sharpener and after 1.5 hours of reprofiling and sharpening it, I got it to hair popping sharpness. So after working it and carrying it for two days I haven't been impressed nor disappointed lol.
