Seems like the scissors is universally useful. But for tools where the scissors is on the inside, I've found they're not as handy, since it takes several seconds to fold it out.

When I saw the PowerLock with the V-cutter in Lowes the other day, I was disappointed that they didn't have the scissors model. (wound up buying a Rebar...)

On the drive home, I wondered if maybe I was being a bit narrow-minded. Us knife and MT users often refer to seatbelt cutting, but I think that is probably about the last thing I'd use it for. I'm more likely to use it to cut fabric (admittedly coarsely) string, boxes, maybe even clamshell packaging?

To those who have a V-cutter, how useful is it? What do you find yourself using it on, instead of the regular blade?

The V-cutter is much more useful than those scissors.

Good question. I've often wondered the same thing. :tu:

The V-cutter PL was what I wanted to get, but it was not available on Amazon, so I ended up with the scissors variant. My edc Gerber Dime v-cutter is the most used tool and I reckon it would be great to have one on the PL.

You know what? I'm overthinking it. Since this is SOG, I can easily just change it later for a few bucks if I want to.

But I think I'm going to try the V-cutter version to start with, since I have other MTs with scissors and none with a V-cutter yet. Well, I guess the Charge ALX has a cutting hook (same thing?).

V cutter is nice, had a PL with one, now I've got a blacktip with the oho one. I like it, but find myself saving it, as I can't see sharpening it. Always wanted SOG scissors though..

I suppose SOG V-cutter has better reach with the slim body and short cutting edge while the Charge's has long cutting edge on the back of its v-cutter.

I wish sog had a better system for ordering components. It's almost $20 shipped for a pair of scissors. :bnghd: they need like a parts package so you can get several parts for one price.

Someone mentioned the Dime's package opener. Do not confuse this with a V-cutter. And if I had to choose I would definitely go with the package opener :tu:

No. I've checked. The only place I see them is on sog site. That smkw site didn't have any either

Yea, they're similar, not same. I mention Dime's opener to share how it has been more useful than I thought it was over a pair of scissors in a MT. Trying to get a SOG V-cutter from the local retailer for the new PL.  :D

Did you actually try any of the links? They work just fine for me...?

I see them now. It would be nice if they had the scissors and 1/4 drive. But at least you can grab a couple blade for cheaper.

The selection isn't amazing, but better than the alternative I suppose

SOG scissors are crap on everything but the Switchplier!
Why? Because they're upside down!

Inboard, or outboard, the movable scissor arm should point outward not inward. SOG sometimes struggle to grasp very basic concepts  ::)
