Walking with Grathr Glomsrudkollen
on: August 13, 2015, 05:53:35 PM
I went for a walk yesterday in Finnemarka close to where I live. I followed a old mining trail up in the mountains.
Heres some pics.

Close my starting point:

The mines lowest entrance. Its a old zink mine that was started in 1870.

A closer look at the entrance. Ice cold air comes gushing out of it. I have talked to someone who has walked/crawled/climbed throug the mine that goes through the whole mountain. Its not recomended.

The old mining road:

A mine shaft higer up the mountain:

I found some "worm" strawberries as we called them:

Its pretty steep. Bringing the ore down theese roads must have been risky buisness:

A old hunting cabin ( I think). It has only one small window in perfect angle to the trail. Perfect for shooting moose, deer and foxes following the path.

Another mine shaft:

A small entrance:

Why is it not recomended that you talk to someone who has been through that mine?...

The old and collapsed main house of the mine:

Here is a old photo of the miners posing infront of the main house in 1909.

I found blueberries too :)

The view close to the collapsed house:

Thanks for sharing. That old mine looks very interesting...but as you have said, very dangerous to play around in.

I walked a different path back:

I desided to take a "shortcut" without a map. It was a silly thing to do.

Light faded fast, and I soon realised that my shortcut was no shortcut at all, and that I was nowhere near where I thought I was. Luckily I had brought my old GPS wich i left logging in my backpack. Without it I would have overshot my car by quite a bit.

It was a nice refreshing walk, and I enjoyed a lot. :tu:

Cold, wet, pitch black and cramped. Not my kind of place.
