Back in the 60s it was all about cheap 2 D flashlights and Camp King pocket knifes. Then came along 3 D Mag Lites. I still have two in good working order. I now carry them in my cars for clubs. Then came along AA Mag Lites and Buck Knifes. Now you can buy a workable LED flashlight for a buck. A few years back I tried a head light now they are about the only light I use they are great break downs changeling a tire, rigging fishing lines or just about anything when you need hands free lighting. The one problem I have with them is the white lights attract bugs that is not good when you have a light strapped to your head. I have been covering the lenses the plastic load flags from Home Depot to make a makeshift red light. Can anyone recommend a low cost Three AAA headlight that has white and red LEDs or even better white, red, blue and green LEDs so I could try them all.
Another Petzl fan here for headlamp, my only suggestion is to take a look at the older models of Petzl where the switch on top is a real 'clicky'. Since they are older, maybe a little less lumens, but absolute joy to use and totally reliable. The modern light touch switch is not entirely reliable(even the manufacturers may claim to have circuit lock, I did have incidents they switched on itself), only way I can ensure they won't accidentally turn on is by putting them in a hard case(which is bulky).
