DIY Bit Adapters
on: August 19, 2015, 07:38:53 AM
A few years back I started making bit adapters for 91mm SAKs. I carry my LM Rev and Waiter a lot but no bit kit so I made some adapters for them. My waiter and bit kit fit in my Vic clip on pouch and are very light great for summer carry.  Notice my nipple wrench in my waiter.

I al so made a pill bottle case for my bit kit with matching box cutter and Bic lighter. The lighter holds two feet of duct tape, key ring and zip tie on and off gas shut off.

Good idea.  Who needs a Cybertool!  How do you make the bit adapters?

Looks like a great setup. Would love to hear how you made them and maybe see a few more shots of the end that fits onto the MTs/SAKs.

Love the minions :tu:

Would love to see a short tutorial on how you made them :salute:

I do ;)

There is benefit to both solutions. The CT provides long reach (and reasonably thin) in a very compact form.
This is far more compatible and easier to replace bits. There are also more bits available.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Very cool  :salute: ive made a few bit adapters over the years for sak and lm's, i use drill driver bit adapters, i knock out the square bit that goes in the drill, and then hit the bottom end with a hammer too slightly flatten the round shape, fits snug on the large flathead on a sak ,sorry if this makes no sense

Zed that is pretty cool how you make your adapters. Here is how I make mine.

Supply's you will need:
1/4" drive to 1/4 screwdriver bit coupler the two I have used Ace #2024024 and Master Mecanic 120739
.25x.06/ 6.35x1.5 Super Magnet
J-B Weld
Pam Cooking Spray

Put a magnet in 1/4" square end of the coupler. Mix up some J-B Weld and fill the square end of the coupler.

Spray the screwdriver on the tool you want the coupler to fit with cooking spray. The cooking spray is your release agent if you don't use you will glue the coupler to your tool.

Let the J-B Weld set up over night. Then pull off the coupler and you done just let the J-B Weld set up a few more days before using.

This is awesome, thanks Mike 56. I was searching for SAK with 1/5 bit adapter a few hours ago, found the retired Wenger Multi grip (internal adapter) via SAKselector. Your method is flexible with most SAK/MT.  :tu:

Made a JB Weld version today. Turned out pretty good. Time will tell if it holds up to use, but so far it seem solid.

I been doing this with J-B Weld for years it holds up well you just need to let the J-B Weld cure good before using it too much.  I have been beding scope rings, sight bases and rifle actions With J-B Weld with no trouble at all. Good Stuff

Thanks

Didn't have a luck at Ace on the magnets

I did find a site, on line, with a large selection of small magnets, but first I am
doing a practice run  without a magnet to see how it turns out for now
