Has anyone broken a Piranha 2 yet?
on: August 23, 2015, 08:54:12 AM
Back when Leatherman bought PocketToolX and started their line of OPTs, they cut that goofy slot in it to act as a leaf spring to hold the bits in place, which means the wrench jaw is now connected by a very thin piece of metal.  I remember the speculation that the tool would snap there under any significant torque.

Has that happened yet?  Can anyone report on the durability of the Piranha II?

I broke mine trying to loosen a bolt with a 7/16 head.  I didn't seem like I was using that much force.  After breaking the Piranha ii, I loosened the bolt easily with a cheap Chinese made 4 inch adjustable wrench.

I ordered what I thought would be a piranha 1 from amazon, and got a 2 and returned it because I figured it would snap.

Though you should be able to replace  it with LM warranty.
