Picked up a PowerLock/S62 V-cutter
on: August 25, 2015, 06:31:56 AM
Went to Lowe's and exchanged my Leatherman Rebar for it. The Reba was OK, but isn't as good a value as the S62, IMO.

This one gives Gerber some competition in a OHO pliers-based MT.

The pliers have that sharp tipain and great fit and finish.

I'm surprised, but I prefer it with the doors removed; it closes tighter. The extra squeezing comfort isn't really needed due to the compound leverage.

The plain edge part of the blade had that annoying chisel grind; I wish SOG would take a lesson from Gerber here and do it properly.

The saw teeth appear to be quite coarse; we'll see how they work.

The sheath is wonderful.

I've read this is a heavy MT, but it doesn't feel so. It feels lighter than a Wave, and MUCH lighter than a Surge or Swisstool.

Next step is to buy a cheap socket set on ebay or something and try this out as a bike tool. Oh, and to buy a scissors and plain blade for it. (For the double bevel grind)

Which sheath cane with yours? Unfortunately my stock sheath won't house the bit kit.

Congrats Smaug!

@Vinjints, SOG does sell a sheath for the Powerlock that will hold the bit kit also.

Mine either. But I'm thinking if I were to buy another sheath, I'd probably go for something aftermarket. Maybe a small, used camera case?

I haven't got a powerlock anymore, but I'd be curious to see if it fits in the Vic molle sheath, I bet it may, and may well  I'll see if the blacktip goes in
