South Baymouth Manitoulin Island Ontario Canada

Yesterday, I decided to explore a little further, Manitoulin Island. I traveled as far south as South Baymouth. South Baymouth is the the Manitoulin Island terminal for a large ferry called the Chi-Cheemaun. The Chi-Cheemaun travels to and fro South Baymouth Manitoulin Island and Tobermorry which is on the Bruce Peninsula.

South Baymouth is located at the mouth of South Bay.

Here we are at the Marina.

Located at the Marina is a short and beautiful boardwalk that takes you over a little bridge.

Looking east on the small pedestrian bridge.

Now on the small island.

Looking out onto Lake Huron.

I didn't plan it, but it just so happened that I was there to see the ferry come in and leave.

And here it is docked and unloading passengers and vehicles.

South Baymouth is a sort of little tourst trap in that there are several places selling "native art" and various gifts type merchandize to visitors. Here is one of the businesses. After taking this photo, it was time to enter such establishments to see what was available. Plenty of kitch and other nicer goods, but like most touristy places, the prices where high on average. I did get to eat at one of the local restaurants, and the food was good. I didn't get any photos of the ferry leaving as I was visiting some of the local establishments at the time.

All in all a nice visit. Afterwards, i took a ride around part of the island and was forced to head back home as it was a good 4 1/2 hour drive back home at that point.
