A Pair Of Huskys.
on: September 03, 2015, 05:27:41 PM
I'm still dipping my toe into the axe and hatchet pool.I've viewed many vids and read several reviews and decided to purchase these two Swedish made choppers.I'm still looking at the premium manufacturers but these two should provide me with an idea of what to expect from Swedish made axes and hatchets.

Indeed they do.  I had one for a while but passed it on to Mike as it wasn't quite what I was after.  No arguing with the quality though. :tu:

I believe at one time Husky did contract Wetterlings to make their choppers but I believe Hults Bruk is currently under contract to make these for Husky.

I think Smashie had a husky or two at the meet, very nice!
I know these are the cheaper make but I think they are up there with the best   :salute:

As long as the important bits get done at the factory and it functions as it should, the rest is just form. Making it neater or prettier is something the owner can do if desired.

I doubt I would find any or many Swedish axes at markets, most likely to find USA or English brands, I'd say. Though I haven't been looking. Market this weekend will have a gander  :tu:

A good looking pair of axes by the way :salute:

I've been debating with myself about getting me an Estwing axe lately, still undecided between sportsman's and camper's version.  ::)

Those Husqvarnas do look very good and they have a good reputation :tu:

I would love some Swedish goodness as well. *sigh*

I never did document the model number of the Estwing hatchet that I bought and discussed in this thread.
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,61549.0.html

It is the model E14A which is a 12" hatchet and the smallest hatchet Estwing makes.

Thanks. I saw that thread... it reminded me I've been meaning to get an Estwing for a while... :twak:

You aren't helping.  :D Actually, you are. Heft, balance, compact form, low maintenance. Sounds good for occasional use.

Why didn't you get another?  :pok: Amassing all the old Moras mustn't leave you much time?  :P
