Hoots man from Edinburgh
on: September 07, 2015, 02:09:45 PM
Hi Guys and Gals
I've always had a thing about knives and a natural progression was MTs!
Got a drawer-full of SKs, gerbers and a few leathermen which apart from
an OHT I brought back from the USA last month have seen better days.
EDC is a Urban Legend with a broken blade tip. Second up is an old wave with
short nosed pliers...broke one jaw wrestling with a nail.. I need a few lessons in
MT maintenance!

Cheers,

davie

Thanks 50ft...

Yes I like Gerber...customer service is good through Silva ltd in Livingston.
I've sent back a suspension and a BG compact and got replacements within a week.

Just for info, I sent them a MP700 and got a MP400 back in return.... though that was before the Balance came into circulation, so that might be different now. I do have a old junker MP700 that I've been breaking for parts, and that too has got a broken blade (I got it that way)

If you want, when my new belts come in for my Worksharp, I can reprofile the broken blade I have and send it you up. All you have to do then is switch the blades over  :tu:

That would be great. What WorkSharp have you? I fancy the Ken Onion when I have some spare cash and time to get back into trying to make knife blades badly.

I've got the non-Ken Onion one  :D To be honest most of the time I just sharpen free hand, but it's good for reprofiling, damage repair, and the occasional bit of tool modification  ;) Any projects I do are just at the kitchen table of in the garden as I don't have a workshop, but the Worksharp fills a lot of gaps and enables stuff which would be a right royal pain in the proverbial otherwise

What I have in my drawer at work. Quick question guys...the OHT should have a locking screw either side to stop the pliers being deployed? If so I've lost one already LOL!! They tend to snag the molle sheath anyway so I might lose the other?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum Davie.

The OHT only has one locking screw and it can't be removed without dismantling the tool so you'll be right.  ;)

Where'd you come down from?  I might be from Leith but I headed up North last year.  I grew up on Kirk Street at the Foot of the Walk and used to go to the Leith Library all the time. :)
