Field & Stream The Total Outdoorsman Manual.
on: September 16, 2015, 05:19:14 AM
I came across this book at Walmart of all places. and am I happy I picked it up. This book contains a lot of useful information presented in a short and easily read manner. The book is divided into 4 major categories, and all entries are numbered. This manual contains a total of 408 topics divided under Camping, Fishing, Hunting, Survival and Challenge.

Here are a few photos of the various topics mentioned in this wonderful book.

Here are a couple photos showing you some of the books contents.

Yeah, I certainly like the format and the breath of topics this book contains. I have since found out there are other books in the Field & Stream series, all based upon the same format. I think I may have to try and hunt a few others down and include them in my library.

A little Leatherman information.

Chako,

I got the same book too, I think I picked up one up a year or two ago, while I was in an airport waiting to board the plane.  The freaky thing is I was thinking someone else here may have one too...

The Canadian Edition is much the same you hoser.  It just has a few more beer related articles and five methods on keeping back bacon fresh when your fridge goes on the blink, eh.

Plus there's a comparison of the top ten snow shovels and you wouldn't want to miss that.

Nice. Could be a worth while read when compared to some survival manuals that often skip topics or glance over them
Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Funny you mentioned snow shovels, because I was wondering if the Canadian edition might have more cold weather or north woods emphasis.  :)

There is a section on which brands of hockey sticks burn longest/best.  The ones from Toronto burn pretty good but also present a serious and recurring choking hazard.

I'd have guessed that the Canadian edition would have chapters on Hockey and snow shovels, and maybe a recipe for poutine.  I'm going to look for this book, but I'll just get the Mercan version.

I have the regular version that was given to me as a gift and I really enjoy having it. I figure the Canadian edition would cover more about moose and caribou do's and don'ts

I found it. I had it on my shelf of goodies and resurrected it for some reading.

I got it as a gift and it's actually a very cool book to flip through. I wasn't expecting it to be some ultimate guide to being the world's best bushcrafter. It's got some cool little things that you'll wanna try when you're sitting around camp. Hell it's the reason I bought a Dutch oven and began cooking over fires.
I'm a total legend..... in my own mind- Herley
