It sure LOOKS like it was working.

When the flame looks like it's coming out of the air holes at the top of the inner can, then it's burning the wood gas, and that looks like what's going on in the pic.

Very cool. :tu:

How did the construction go for you, and do you have any suggestions for change?

Aaaaaahhhh, I see!!! I'm glad it worked!!!

I managed to fail the triangles at the bottom. I could not connect the doubles but other than that it was pretty easy.

As far as the hole on the top (actually bottom of the can, top of the stove). I tried to punch the holes with the can opener, but I gave up very quickly. I used the knife seen in the first pic and at the end finished with the can opener. No visible damage to the tip or edge so I'm sure it would not be a problem to Wave's blade.

I was able to get a pretty tight fit, it was not what I was aiming for but it was what I got at the end.

Super fun project, very easy, and very cheap. I highly recommend and thank you Lynn for posting it here.  :tu:

This really isn't a problem at all. The only thing that matters is that 1) enough air can get in at the bottom of the outside can and 2) MAYBE, not sure, that it's more or less equal amounts all around. And like I said, I'm not even sure that's important, and 3) that there's enough of the can intact to maintain structure.

Aside from that, its aesthetics. And this project, for me, has never been about being all that high on the aesthetics scale. :D

In the end, the ONLY thing that matters is that it works.

It's also cool to hear that you got a good seal between inner and outer cans. That step has been one that's never been consistent for me. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.  Although, like other aspects, it ultimately seems to be more about aesthetics than function, since mine had a TERRIBLE seal and still worked fine.

So, yeah, it just seems to be a pretty forgiving design.

Lynn would you mind if I took your text and pics to put it in a pdf? It should go without question but just so we're all clear, you're the signed author.

While I'm not against the idea, would you mind waiting for the design to 'mature' a bit? I mean to say, wait for feedback to improve the methodology?

I guess if you wanted to put one out, understanding that it'd be like a "1.0" design, i guess you could.

Sure, I'll wait. After all you're the boss lady with this

I'm thinking about making one of these, they sound awesome.
Aquiring the rght can sizes might be harder on this side of the pond.
Too bad that the pics are gone.  :(
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I'm glad I gave up the photobucket thing, is so terrible!!! But do try it, as previously said, it is a super fun project, requires little tools (can be done with a multi), and is dirt cheap. As far as can size go, you don't need the sizes used, you just need a one that is smaller than the other (I think).

These are actually very simple to make.
I mad a wood gasifier/rocket stove hybrid just last week. I used for cans to make mine tho. YouTube has plenty of instructional videos in both of them.
