Similar to ToolClip
on: October 04, 2015, 01:34:40 PM
Hey guys

Since joining this forum I'd been seeing the SOG ToolClip and I liked the look of it, but hadn't seen any for sale anywhere.
I was browsing ebay yesterday and found this.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stainless-Steel-MULTI-Function-TOOL-Pocket-Plier-Knife-Long-Nose-or-Flat-Nose-/111654788670?var=&hash=item19ff24de3e

I know its not a SOG, so this may be the wrong section to post in, but I thought I'd share.
I have no idea what brand it actually is or what the quality is like.  I've ordered the long nose, I'm tempted to order the flat nose too.  I'll let you guys know what I think when I get it.

I have a few of these. Because of how they are designed and built, the pliers should be sturdy. The folding tools will be rather cheap however. A place of weakness is the metal spring used to keep the jaws open. That piece may either be overly lose and move to the side, negating their function, or simply break off with use over a short period of time.

I will be curious to hear your impressions and use of the tool.  :salute:

I've got one that's nearly similar, but a hammer has been built into the jaws of the pliers head.  It's one of my favorite cheapos, and it is kept in my toolbox.

Got my replica sogs today!

They are nice tools, but since I have the PowerAssist, they aren't something I could use on a regular basis.
The long nose has no spring assist pliers, but it does have a philips head.  Very hard to use the plier without the spring assist because the handle is tight.
The knife and other tools dont lock into position, which is probably ok depending on what you do with your knife.
The Flat nose would be much nicer to use as a plier but it doesn't have a philips head, and I dont want a multi tool with no philps head.

I've got to say...the thing I'm happiest about is the horizontal sheath that came with the long nose!!  Very very low profile and best of all my PowerAssist fits in it!
I doubt the sheath will be as sturdy as my Maxpedition Single sheath, but the profile is much better.

Can I play?

Mine is extra awesome because it comes with 80's style puffy stickers to improve the ergonomics.

I think the most use it has seen is this photo shoot...
