Pst 2 scissors question.
on: October 09, 2015, 05:29:42 PM

Hi all, a quick question for the more experienced multitool fixer.
I stumbled on a Pst that showed to be a Pst 2 for a real good price the other day.  :)
Which I started to use immediately. Found that the scissors is a little loose and when in use easily over travel the bend part that is supposed to stop it.

So my question is can I do something about it ?
I imagine hitting it with some thin punch or something to tighten the rivet or will it just brake ?
Happy for any advise.

I had something similar on mine. First hit pivot with littlesucces. Then hit that curved part with more success. Then little bending on that part that you press to make scissors work...Most success...

Here are some more pics

The scissors on these early models had a design flaw which caused the handle to slip past the stop when cutting anything heavier than paper. LM later fixed the problem by putting a bevel on both pieces. I modified these scissors in the same way so they work perfectly.

Update: I did the fix. It was easy the steel was softer than I thought to file. It looks good and most of all it works !
Did have to wack the rivet several times to because it was so loose.

I know I'm resurrecting this thread, but it's worth it !
Thanks a million ! I'll be modding my PST2 ASAP, the scissors are the only thing that bothered me on this great MT.

After the fix you will be happier with them :tu: :like: I love the design of these and wished that they still made them like this but the newer ones do work for what I need

For now they only work on paper, but, boy, they are even better than the trusty Victorinox I have. This is not a scientifically researched fact, just the result of having such good and long scissors that come with full sized pliers).
I'll mod them ASAP though.
