Got this for my eldest for Christmas:
(Image removed from quote.)
and we've put a couple of minifigs in his advent calendar too.

His younger brother will be getting some more Duplo, but I can't decide between this
(Image removed from quote.)
or this
(Image removed from quote.)

I'd be tempted to go with the digger.  No end of fun building a tower with wooden blocks and then knocking them over with a digger. >:D

awesome!

They really seem to have gone to town on the kits this year.  I'm deliberately not looking now we're started the calendar but IIRC there are quite a few mini-figs this year which will make my daughter very happy. :)

he keeps adding to that as the days go by, so no spoilers (apart from the box graphics)

Obviously this is just for my daughter's benefit and not remotely for me.  No siree.

Day four brings us a cool little Imperial Naval Trooper.  "all I wanted was one single guard rail.  Is that really too much to ask?"

Well, sort of... for some reason I had been thinking it was Robot Chicken, not Family Guy.   :-[

I remembered the bit, just misremembered where it came from.

Yep, me too.  This way they both get diggers, though I'm sure that won't stop the boys arguing over them. ::)

Oops, being slow again.  Not such a problem though this time as the two pieces go together well.  Yesterday brought us another Rebel Hoth base defence gun (the ones that didn't seem to make a blind bit of difference against the AT-ATs).  Today we finally get a Rebel mini-fig to man the defences.

That would be the Radar Laser Cannon.  I know that because I had one  Press a button on the back and it exploded.  That always seemed like a serious design flaw to me.  :D

Radar guided laser cannons and they still manage to miss a very slow giant mechanical dog. ;)

I remember that toy (though not the name) and remember seeing the advert where it gets "blown up". 8)  I always really wanted one but never did get it.

You weren't missing much.  It wasn't spring loaded like the exploding speeder bike, it simply sat there with a post in the hole of the base.  If it fell over it "exploded" and the same if you tried walking while carrying it too fast.

Not my pic, but you can see how the post formed by the two halves of the dish mount fit into the hole in the base, the oval bit at the top of the pic- that's an overhead view of it.  Press the button at the back and a lever pushes the post up and out.  The more vigorously you push it, the more "amazing" the explosion.

You can also see the little plastic bit that fit into the spokes of the dish mount and made clicking noises as you turned the dish side to side.  Given that the dish mount was two hollow pieces and the base was mostly hollow, that was one LOUD cannon.  When I was playing and needed to turn the turret I would lift it out and put it back in the direction I wanted so as not to get noise complaints from the neighbors!   :ahhh

Yesterday and today saw a bolstering of the Droid forces with a rather nifty tank (with movable turret) and then a slightly less impressive Gunship.
