Luminous paint
on: October 24, 2015, 03:50:32 PM
I have this Lorus Titanium watch wich I quite like, but it has on drawback.
It has louminous hands, wich work OK. Not seiko or citizen, but ok. But there are no luminous markers...

If you look at the pic you can see theese dimples at 12, 3, 6 and 9. The question is:  can I fill these dimples with luminous watch hand paint, or will this wear off/wash away?

I would much rather take it to someone that will paint that face under glass.

I thought of that, but I think that would cost more than the watch it self

Well, good guess that the lume paint was never designed for much wear and tear. After all, it's protected under the crystal.

That being said, if I wanted to know the answer to that question, I would go ask at Watchuseek forums. Maybe the public forum section or watchmaking:)

You can get the glow-pigment without paint and mix it with whatever paint you like - if you use clear laqcuer ist should work ok even on the outside.
You can use 2 component epoxy instead of paint, too.

Luming the dots on the hour marks would be the nicer variant and the hint to watchuseek is a good one!

lowtech is right. Best and economical friendly way is to use epoxy mixed with glow pigment for it.
