Did a lot today, but the only thing I could get a shot of was opening one of those laser light projector... things for my mother;

Thanks, D.

The MP400 is pretty sweet. Too bad I won't be able to actually use it until 2016  :rant:

Yeah that does suck. The Nov juice challenge and handling an s2 at REI has me :drool: for one now. I don't have a surge so for me it means immediate carry. What are your thoughts on the juice scissors and drivers?

The drivers are pretty aggressive, and bite well on all common screws from my experience. The flat drivers are a bit sharp on the corners, and will chew your fingers up a bit when opening and closing if you aren't careful. They're a bit stubborn in deployment, but they also snap into place firmly and I don't feel like there's any great danger of them closing on accident.
I have mixed feelings on the scissors... They're a good size, but I feel like the operating arm is too short in relation to the length of the blades and you're losing some energy and leverage due to the short distance to the fulcrum. Mine cut well, but that seems to be subject to wide variances from one tool to another. They also didn't seem to come very sharp, relative to some of the better MT scissors, as mine can't "push cut" through paper very cleanly. The end portion of the blades comes serrated and I am just perplexed as to the purpose of that feature. If it's to grip "slippery" materials (I'm thinking cable ties here) that might slide out of smooth scissors, the effect is little to none from my experience. I think they would have been better served by a longer arm to improve leverage in those situations.
Overall the scissors are just alright. They will usually get the job done, but not with the power (Surge) or precision (SAK) of some other examples out there.

Day 18-

Well, I was so impressed with my MP400 that I decided to buy one as a gift for someone else.
Mine came in perfect condition, with very good fit and finish for a Gerber offering. The second one... Not so much.
It arrived in a box, rather than a blister pack, so I opened it to take a look (of course) only to find the pliers pivot was extremely gunked up with a substance I couldn't positively identify. This rendered the pliers very stiff, and was quite unsightly.
So I figured I had three options; return it to Amazon, return it to Gerber, or dismantle the thing and fix it myself. You've probably already guessed what I chose  :multi:

I enlisted the S2's help in removing the little plates that lock the pliers onto the rails. It was exactly as easy as everyone always says it is. After that, I cleaned it out, soaked it in an oil bath, then repeated. Now it's much improved, and I won't be embarrassed to give it as a gift.

I also used the Juice's pliers to rip off the cardboard strip on the box my order came in, but that is less interesting so I'll go ahead and omit that crappy photo.

Day 21-

Used the can/bottle opener to pull staples and the phillips to tighten the latch on a fridge lock, and pliers to bend part of the latch back into shape.
This was all at work, where I couldn't get pics, so as consolation I offer this group shot with some huntin' knives;

Day 26-

Happy Thanksgiving!

I had a long day today, since I went into work. Used the S2's phillips to assemble a TV stand, and the scissors to remove some plastic ties from some clothing items.
All this took place in areas where I can't shoot photos, so here's a candid shot of the S2 hangin' out with my EDC bag.

Day 28-

After a month standing in for my letter opener, this thing has seen a lot of use on tape, glue, and various kinds of paper.
I have to say it's handled the job very satisfactorily  :tu:
