An interesting thread from BF, regarding Sheffield kniveshttp://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1260767-Round-Yorkshire-With-A-Knife-A-Visit-To-The-Famous-Sheffield-Shop
I'm liking that Stockman Robert
Its most likely cattle shin bone. Better makers tend to buy only the bones from certain breeds/regions. You need a strong cow that walks a lot do it has good bone density. I seem to recall that south American cow bones were considered good.
It is amazing how good yellow looks on traditional knives - buck, case, GEC..
A quick photograph for reference. Two "23" knives, of similar price, from the two main GEC brands.
I did buy it to use it, but never really did - I thought, when buying it, that the Grizzly jigging looked really sexy and I was going to use it to replace my SRM763 as my standard locking folder. It just feels a bit thin for a knife with such a large, solid blade and the jigging is a bit "sharp" making it a bit uncomfortable for me to use regularly. Also, for a locking knife, the blade is harder to open than needed (noticeably harder than a locking or regular SAK and you can not pinch it open - you could damage a nail if you try to open it quickly)It is a good looking knife with a really solid lock and looks very unusual to what everybody else carries.I also do not want to get it rusty through use as it does, for some reason, rust easier than the other GECs I have.I have no major reason not to use it, but the SS 763 ends in my pocket 90% of the time I want a locking knife.
