Just got this stockman in, working on my slip joint collection -

1943 KA-BAR stockman, slightly larger than a Buck 303 for reference.
Custom cowboy western scales, sterling silver scroll work and I believe 10k gold monogram
I didn't pay much at all for it, about the retail price of a Buck 303 on the primary market so I'm very happy with it.

Here are my 194OT/SC 503knives

My EDC
Schrade USA 194OT Gunstock Trapper

Love this pattern and have three versions of it.

A sawcut delrin, 194OT in carbon (bottom), an SC503 Scrimshaw in Schrade+ (top) and in between, a factory error 194OT (in carbon) stamped "SC503 Schrade". It has a SC503 blade from when the Scrimshaw Schrades had carbon blades, before they switched to Schrade+ stainless.

Sowbellys

Five blade, Rifle Shield (missing) Winchester in Burnt Orange bone.

Winchester "Black Box" Sowbelly in dark Rogers Bone.

Winchester Cartridge Shield Sowbelly in Burnt Orange Bone.

And finally, A Case Bros Sowbelly in light brown Rogers Bone.

I keep mentioning "Rogers Bone" so I thought an explanation was needed. From what I've read, Queen and Blue Grass Cutlery bought a lot of it to use on the Winchester knives for Blue Grass Cutlery. The dark bone on the "Black Box" Winchesters (approx '87-'92) is also referred to as "Utica Bone" as it's Rogers Bone reportedly bought from the Utica Cutlery Co.  The Case Bros light brown bone is supposed to be Rogers Bone as well but I know no particulars on it...

Here's some info on the bone from Roger Manufacturing from Levine.
http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/bonehand.txt

The "Black Box" Winchester thread over on BF is also a wealth of info on these knives.

And my first foray into classic slip joints has started. Uh oh...  :D I'm really having allot of fun carrying and using this knife. I'd only wish I'd gotten into them sooner. (Oh, and had a lot more money to spend on them too of course...)

That's an awesome start.  Is that denim Micarta as grippy as it looks in the pics?  It sure looks like a great scale material for a user.

Thanks to the great guys in the Traditional challenge and their beautiful sowbellies, a new addtion to my collection arrived today.

You know who you are...  :pok:  :P  :D

This one has pretty good F&F, with some minor liner rub on the clip and spey.  I'll take that over blades rubbing together.  Chestnut bone and CV is my favorite late-model Case combo.
