USB Lighter anyone?
on: November 13, 2015, 04:46:24 PM
I did a quick search and it seems no one has one .

I see them pretty cheap >$5 US might be worth a try.  I don't smoke but I was thinking it could be neat or useful for camping.

Anyone got one or had one?

Lol. Interesting. I wonder how many "strikes" you could get from one / one charging.

I also looked them up, they seem to work like those lighters that are in cars:

I am thinking char cloth would easily light as well as jute twine.

I have a  Ignite lighter that doesn't see a lot of use.  Here's a thread on it:

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,50894.0.html

It's really only good for cigarettes and slim cigarillos- I wouldn't want to try and light a cigar or camp fire with it, although it will ignite paper or fire starters in a pinch.

Seals the deal for me  :tu: thanks boss.  I see no reason not to get one and have a play.  If it can melt paracord I see it being an excellent fire starting device.  Heck just for the neat factor I'm sold.

Be aware that it will get gunky and nasty if you use it for paracord.

When it comes to fire lighting you can use it to ignite grass, paper etc and use that to start your fire.

It's not ideal, but it's not bad either.

Well it took a while to finally get to me but its here and pretty darn cool.  We'll see how long it last and over time how well it performs.

I first tried to light a candle and sure enough it lit.  Next I wanted to melt some paracord and taking into consideration not wanting a mess I held it ever so close and voila it melted just fine.

For a couple bucks and a long wait so far I like it.
