My daughter and friend both carry Moras. While a terrific knife the sheath leaves a little to be desired IMO. My friend wanted a dangler type sheath also she wanted to carry her fire kit on board the sheath as well
. Initially I just used some ranger bands ( bike inner tube ) to hold her ferro rod to the sheath. This worked great after making a handle from Oak for her ferro rod. I also added some elastic cordage to further secure it.
She like it well enough but wanted her tin with char cloth, jute twine, cotton balls/vaseline, and a lighter to ride along
. I had this little pouch with molle that fit her tin perfectly so armed with more ranger bands this is what we came up with.
The taper on the sheath made it necessary to build up the thickness towards the bottom with several bands. The great thing is with the extra bands ( good for burning ) is the pouch is crazy secure. As you can see I simply put the ferro rod thru a loop of band and pulled the cord over the bottom of the rod. The rod isn't going anywhere and the lighter can stay dry in the tin.
I made the dangler by attaching paracord to the clip part of the sheath then fed it thru a grommet on her blet. Using the cammo paracord bead she's able to adjust the drop of the sheath to "customize" how low the sheath rides.
All in all she's stoked with the results and no further expense incurred.
