Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts people.
As someone who lives alone, one gets quite  attached to them. As much a roommate as a pet. "Companion animal" is a term that really sums it up. Dog, cat or bird, they add life to a home for us singlies.
Bob was part Siamese so he had quite a voice on him and was very talkative. The house is so quiet without him.
