I used to throw a SwissChamp and Leatherman PST in my bag, but it was a lot of duplication.  Lately I throw a PST and a Huntsman in my bag.  Way less overlap, both great tools.  Less than 9 oz combined weight.

I doubt if I got one I would pair it with anything. But I like to consider all options. It really does seem like a great stand alone tool.

It does!  :tu: I had difficulty convincing myself to let the Mini go purely for how well it compliments a SAK

For example:

SC + visegrips or channel locks + K55k or Douk Douk

(curiously, with that setup; I actually do carry a Mini Champ or Rambler)

IT does work, very well in fact!

I'd like to argue about the versatility of the Mini, but,in truth I can't. But it is a killer way to carry a decent set of pliers in a compact way. Luv em!
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

I don't have a SC, but I've had and carried a Champ for over 40yrs.  I started out pairing it with a Buck Ranger (112) and both were carried in sheaths when I was out in the country (not in urban settings).  I stopped carrying the Ranger in the late 80"s when I got my first LM PST.

Now, when I'm out in the country, I generally carry a 2 or 3 layer 84mm/91mm cellidor in my pocket, and a Gerber Strata and a Bucklite Max on the belt. If I'm in town doing a lot of chores, I don't carry the Bucklite, but I do have the other two tools.

In today's world, I find I carry the Champs a whole lot less because of the pairing options.

There is a simple explanation, namely, that we're (here in the most) minimalists ;)

I, for one, am NOT a minimalist. My EDC is the S54 from after the wenger-victorinox merger, paired with the sheath from the XAVT. No, not minimalist at all.

Congrats. It seems the signal can't leave you alone. Would you say it's earning a permanent spot in your edc now?

I do seem to really like it.  It's certainly earned a spot in the rotation, but over the past month since I got it, there has been no actual rotation with my multies ;)  With the SAKs I carry, especially now with my latest in both the Champion and Swisschamp, I don't need much in a multi, and the Signal is perfect for that.  No pics of them together yet, but I'll try to get a few tomorrow :tu:

Which spyderco is that?

SS Endura with a broken lock.  Its a terrific knife but had seen a lot of use/abuse from its original owner.  It's now a slippy  ;)

I sent it in to Spyderco to see if they could fix it but they declined.
Why didn't they fix it? it's a very nice looking knife

Not sure, they sent me a letter saying it was best to retire it.  They did offer a discount on buying a knife from them but I declined and asked for my knife back.  I want to take it apart and see if I can do something.  The knife was partially serrated which were wore down so I reprofiled the blade.  I imagine being pinned and well used had something to do with it.

It's a pain. I took my SS Endura apart a few years ago and it never was the same. The parts are fitted just slightly different than a standard Endura model. The pivot is also a different sized hole because I remember trying to swap out the combo edge blade for a plain edge regular Endura that I had at the time. It turned into spare parts.
