Sebenza thread
« on: August 24, 2008, 09:13:31 am »
Some of you may know that I have ( had ) a wood inlay Sebenza . It was givin to me by a member of British blades . I know he's just registerd here but I wont keep embarrassing him . You can learn all about it here http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63015
To cut a long story short I wasnt using my inlay Sebenza for fear of messing it up but Mark kindly agreed to exchange it for a new plain regular  :o So now I can use the hell out of it and take it to sea etc.
It arrived yesterday morning and is now my most treasured possession  :D

Gentlemen this is THE locking folder . Nothing comes close and while I agree some may not like it they are in a minority  ;) But you do have to use one for a week or so to realise just what you have .The price I know is very high but with S30v blade and Titanium handles and bronze washers you get exactly what you pay for .
Anyone else got one or plan to get one ?

WoW! Congrats

I didn't know they come apart so easily, great for maintenance.
I also didn't know how simple the design is, thx for the pics  ;)

My small regular sebenza is my most carried knife. It really is my "every day carry". When in the woods or while doing construction jobs it gets replaced with my Benchmade 520, but on six of the seven mornings I get out of bed the Seb goes in my pocket. I think smoothness, lock longevity, toughness, ease of opening and closing all favor the axis lock over the framelock. But simplicity, ease of cleaning, light weight, easy refurbishment to like new condition all favor the Sebenza and these are prime qualities I look for in an EDC knife that will see a lot of pocket time.

If you are into knives you owe it to yourself to pick up a CRK Sebenza. It's a finely crafted and superbly executed design.

Overpriced?? Sure I guess it is but that doesn't detract from the quality of the product.

Where are these made?  I remember reading Reeve was from South Africa, but did he move his operation here to the states?

Great looking knife there Dunc...It's a great looking knife that isn't overly complicated...nice smooth lines and sinple design.  We need to see it after a while at sea...I've never seen a used looking Sebenza..maybe everyone cleans them up immediately after use though, I know I would!

Yes they are very easy to strip . In fact Chris Reeve encourages owners to strip them . It will NOT void the warranty. Heres a great video

While Chris Reeve is indeed South African he is based in America where the knives are made .
Its going out to sea soon so we'll see how it holds up . But it will be kept washed and clean though .

Now i don't have a Sebbie anymore, but i still have it's little brother the Umfaan.
It has all the qualifications his bigger brothers have, but in a much smaller package.
They're very hard to come by these days,

Kwakster hang on to that one  ;) Ben dont even think about going down the Umfaan road unless you want to loose your family and home  ;) Blade length doesnt matter on a locker . Now focus on the Sebbie  >:D
