Day 16

Enjoyed getting to read to my daughter while she drank her Orange juice this morning. Then got Powerlocked and loaded to go to Home Depot.

Did a handle upgrade to a table my wife's parents gave us. Used the flathead. Took a couple before and after pics.

Don't let me stop you.  You're very lucky to still have that fingertip.

Remember, pain is temporary, glory is everlasting, and chicks dig scars.

I know that's for sure glad I didn't lose the tip. Cool quote. :tu: Is it an original?

One of the reenactment groups I used to belong to had a sub-group that performed live steel (both impromptu and choreographed) sword fighting demonstrations, living chess games, melees, and battle reenactments.  The fighters took great care to practice safety measures, but broken fingers and lacerations were common, even with blunted blades.  They had the saying printed on T shirts, but they had it in Latin.

Dolor transit Gloria aeterna est Pullos fodere cicatrices

It sounds better in Latin, but everything usually does.

Did a change out on the air to water VRF and installed an air to air VRF for testing. Wired in high voltage and com. Use wire strippers as well, just didn't have a chance to take a pic of the strippers in use. Here's a few action shots. Wiring high voltage, tightening static taps. Last few were cutting Armaflex to cover 1 5/8", 1 1/8", 5/8", and 3/8" copper.

DAY 19

Off day, just ran errands today. Picked up a key chain tape measure and had to use the knife on the PL to open it. Then cleaned up the garage some while my little girl took her nap. Used the knife again to break down some boxes to have the recycle company pick up tomorrow.

DAY 21

PL didn't see a whole lot of action today. Just used it to change socks for wet bulb readings and work on some static taps. My spring came in for the 1/4 driver the other day. I haven't put it on yet because I want to put some heat shrink on it like I saw a thread for on here the other day.

DAY 22

Used my Powerlocks to strip and crimp connections on a new ground wire to replace one with the insulation burned off. Later I used the pliers as an ice pick. I was trying to cool down some recovery tanks for some R-410a to keep the pressure down where it wouldn't trip the high pressure control on the recovery machine. Recovered about 125 lbs.

Didn't do a whole lot today. Thought I would snap a picture of the EDC tools that the Powerlock has been riding around with in my pouch. Next picture is the rest of my EDC. Not pictured is my i-phone 6s. Had to use it to take the pictures.

How does it fold now? Seems to me like the tubing would be in the way for the adjacent tools? Considering doing the same before I lose the spring.

Mine catches on the screwdriver just a little bit more when I deploy the 1/4" drive, but it seems like all the tools do that any way... You should try it, worst case- you cut it off if you don't like it. Took me a couple trys for the heat shrink not to break. Don't apply too much heat and make sure you have a clean edge- no nicks.

It looks like that drill press was made back when the Kraken was a guppy.  You can't beat old tools when they work, but just try to track down a part when they don't. :facepalm:

It was my grandpa's. My parents still have his old lathe and machinist's drill press back home in Oklahoma. I hope to add them to my collection as well. I enjoy getting to work on things with his tools. Brings back memories of him.

DAY 27

Just change socks for the wet bulb readings on the room this morning. Just a bunch of screen watching on another VRF. Wall mout units this time 6 in each of the two rooms. Got the 100% (80/67-95), 75%(80/67-81.5), 50% 80/67-68), and 25% (80/67-65) cooling tests completed and set the room for high temp heating (70/<60- 47/43) before ending my shift. Hopefully night shift will be able to get it out along with SCHE [Simultaneous Cooling and Heating (Outdoor room set to Heating conditions 47/43), one indoor room set to Cooling 80/67 and the other indoor room set to heating conditions 70/<60.] , and then low temp heating 17/15 outdoor. I'm sure that was TMI but thought I would go into a little more detail if anyone was interested. Here's anther beauty shot.

DAY 28

Got to work and the tests were complete. Wasn't feeling too good, but chose to stick it out the rest of the day. Used my Powerlock Pliers to grip and remove a screw that had the Philips head stripped out after breaking off the long threads sticking through the plywood wall.(Sorry no pics of that.) Managed to pinch a blood blister on my hand on the next one I tried and had to resort to the sawzaw. Then used them to smash the ends of some copper lines before putting some tape on them to keep trash out. Lastly, I used the knife to cot some Armaflex while insulating copper for the next setup.

It is a VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) Heatpump system we are setting up in a Psycrometric Chamber. We test other HVAC systems as well. This one is a 24 ton with 3 Outdoor units and 12 indoor units (6 in each indoor room).
