Old Super Tool Leather Sheath Button Issue

I've got an original Leatherman Super tool sheath and the button is a bit tighter than I'd like it. It really pulls on the leather when I go to open it. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? I really like these antique sheaths and I don't want to rip out the male end of the button on accident.

I've had the opposite where it was loose and I carefully bent the edges of the female button in a bit. You could try to open it up by carefully prying the edges of the button up a bit. You could also try carefully sanding the male button lip with some extra fine emery paper. You could also try to lubricate it with some wax.

It worked out great. I only had to take off a tiny bit.
