Havalon Multi-tool

This is very Skeletool meets Havalon but I like the Skeletool and love my Havalon blades.  So I am already in line to buy this when it comes out.

Great find! I like it a lot. I actually started a thread not too long ago wondering if we'd ever see replaceable blades or Xacto type blades finding their way onto multi-tools. I do like that this includes a gut hook, but in my experience MTs are a poor choice for dressing game. Too many pivots, channels, and other hidey-holes for organic matter to collect in. But sharp things have tons of uses especially when you start changing the shape of the sharp thing, so that gut hook will find thousands of uses. This is clearly a Skeletool ripoff, but it's a design that works, and Leatherman seem content to not develop it anymore than they have so I say bring it on.

Leatherman should find a way to properly integrate a folding utility knife blade in their multitools... A mechanic/learning mechanical engineer told me that's all that really holds him back from purchasing such a tool.

I have to say, that one looks an awful lot like a couple of cheapo Skeletool knockoffs I have.

Love the looks. Looks light but sturdy.
What steel is the blade? The thumb hole looks like gunk collector.

All I've ever seen them called is "stainless." The Havalon blades, in my experience, are OK for utility work (getting it dirty and beating it up, then quickly tossing it) but they're not great blades for general use. I've used them a bit, and they're not that sharp and they don't seem to hold up for long. I'd much prefer the general purpose blade on the Skeletool.
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Considering a Skeletool runs around $40 right now, that is still quite expensive. The quality would have to be exceptional to make it worth the price.

Well, there are some perks to this... like you can take the blade out and you have a blade-less tool.

The price will come down a bit I presume... and I would almost wager, that it will be cheaper in Switzerland than a Skeletool ::)

Interesting.  I don't know that I'd "need" a scalpel vs a sharp SAK blade but neat non the less.   Its really looking like a cousin to the Skeletool.

I don't know if it'll let me post photos or not but I've had a piranta blade on my surge for over a year now. The scale popped off My havalon piranta knife when I was skinning a deer last year so I quickly dropped it in my surge to finish the job. Took some light grinding and she's a perfect fit, very positive lockup. It stays pretty clean to skin with on the surge but I stay away from gutting with it, a larger fixed blade has always been my go to for that. I never used the serrated blade on my surge so it was an easy decision. It's great for everything you don't want to throw at your main blade, just pop another one on and you're good to go.

As a Leatherman Guy I find this blasphemous. But I have to admit this seems to be a step up from the Skeletool.
