Kniper - Great New Multitool!!!
on: February 06, 2016, 01:11:48 AM
Here's a great new multitool. The Kniper! Combines a throwing knife with a spork and a pipe (think the inventors were smoking something when they designed this). And in high-tech 420 stainless, for only $75.

Sorry for the recycling of already known info.

Don't think I've ever looked in the Survival Thread.

No need to apologize at all, the more info is posted means less chance of it being missed.

Every bad idea that comes to fruition was still someone's dream. Someone put time and effort into it. I hate to disparage the dreamer's dreams lest we cease all creativity and stagnate in conformity.  If you don't buy one of these right now you are supporting the "1984" reality of mind controlled, useful drones, under the watchful eye of Big Brother.
 :pok:

This Kniper thing had to have been designed by some video gaming, drug smoking, kid, and I hope they sell enough of them to maintain their supply of pizza pockets and top Ramen.

By contrast, and just to show that not every idea that comes from kids is a bad idea.  I give you the Tops Tahoma Field Knife which was designed by Andy Tran of Inner Bark Outdoors, and I believe I read somewhere that he was only 19 when he designed it.

Back when this was featured in Popular Mechanics?,  I commented to my grandfather how impractical this would be.   As much as I think it looks kind of stupid, part of me thinks it's a bit cool.   Looking at the way it's designed, it's highly impractical.  In addition to the Phillips Screwdriver interfering with the spork, I also see the hex wrenches somewhat compromise the strength of the blade.   This would be something to have in one's collection show off, but it's too impractical to use.   It's really a novelty. $145 is ridiculous!   I could buy four or five Camillus or Ontario Pilot's Survival Knives for that!    As much as I hate it, you gotta give it to the designer for creating something so unique.

I myself think the Ontario/Camillus Pilot's Survival Knife is the perfect field knife for myself, as having a good sized (5" is just enough for me) thick carbon steel blade and a heavy pommel for driving stakes, steeples, and nails is all I need. Plus, at around $40 old stock military surplus, it's reasonably priced.

Take a close look at the pic in post #1.  Note how the fork is strategically placed to sever your wrist arteries during normal usage.  "Kniper" is a Germanic word meaning "accidental blood loss".

After hearing of their apparent quality I wouldn't mind picking one up, or if they started making replacement pliers/cutters for existing multitools 0.0
