Best Photos on MTO?
on: February 07, 2016, 02:31:39 PM
Over the years there have been some truly fantastic photos from some truly great members and I've been looking back a few of them and it got me to wondering- what are everyone else's favorite photos over the years?

Post the ones that you like best here, and please, also post who took them and what thread you found them in- the members that took them deserve recognition!

Everyone that posts a photo here in the next seven days (theirs or someone else's) will be entered into a draw.  I don't know what the prize(s) will be just yet, but I'll draw someone randomly from this thread and we will have a poll on photos and whomever took the best one will also win a prize!

Photos don't have to be brilliant magazine style art photos, they just have to be a photo of a multitool and/or an MTO member and have stuck out in your mind for pretty well any reason.

To get you started, here are a few memorable ones for me:

Taken by me after a very unpleasant incident that I'd rather not talk about, for the ResQMe review in the very early days of this site.

My great friend whom I miss very much Mat showing the proper way to use the cocktail fork on a Leatherman Flair.  I don't know if it was Mat or his lovely wife Jodie that took the picture but it's in the Face To A Name thread

Some of Bob's macro shots qualify as serious art in my opinion.  I could see these blown up on canvas and hanging in a living room of a non multitool person.  These photos catch the subtleties and beauty of multitools (and the engineering that go into them) that many of us overlook while striving to find out which tool has the most effective set of screwdrivers.

So there you have it.... no limit to how many times you can post, no limit to how many photos you can post, I just want to know what everyone likes and what really speaks to them!

Great idea for a thread!!! :tu:

So, I selected much more than I wanted to of my own pics, but you'll just have to deal with it!  :P

I'm just heading out now, but I'll post some that others have taken later today.

That pic of MultiMat is just epic. By the way, any ideas on why he hasn't been online for so long?

Great thread! :D

I'll get down to linking some time when I stumble across certain threads. But among my favourites definitely are mrynnr's pictures and SAKGuy's pictures.

Sadly real life seems to have gotten the best of him.

I don't know much more than that, but I have heard from him a time or two since then.

So many beautiful pics to choose from ...  :ahhh

I'm going to post the first ones that come to my mind now (and will probably post a lot more later ...).

First a couple pics taken by Lobster Boy Zoidberg  ;).

He posted this first one in "my own" pictures topic called "SAKs in Public Places":

He posted this next one in the "Pics of your Leatherman outside" and in SteveC's "The Rockin' Multi-tool picture thread":

Now some pics taken by SteveC:

He posted this first one in his own "The Rockin' Multi-tool picture thread":

And he only just posted this beauty in the "Pics of your Leatherman outside"

And this one was posted in the same topic a while ago:

Up next we have two pics posted by tap78 in the "Pics of your Leatherman outside", he only has 45 posts at the moment, but one of those posts contained these beauties ...

This next pics posted by babola in the "Pics of your Leatherman outside" are also real beauties ...

Next some pics by Derekmac, he posted these in the "Pics of your Leatherman outside" topic, and he knows I just love multitool pics with an aircraft or helicopter on the background  ;).

And this next one is one of my favorites, a pic posted by meanx in the Your SAK, with other toys... topic.

So many pics to choose from ...  :ahhh

I know bdAmmo, Kirky, Monrogue, Edap617, NKlamerus and many others have posted real beauties here, I'll probably post more of my favorite pics here later on  ;).

SteveC takes some of the best I've seen.  I love all the pictures he has of multi tools in snow.  Here's a couple of examples from the "What tool did you carry today" thread, http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,10834.14130.html

Excellent thread and I was just thinking we should do something along these lines recently. I was debating on sayign anything, but the good ole boss man is always one step ahead.  :tu:

Now I am wishing I don't have to break the links on all my photos. Not saying they are good or worthy or anything like that.

I was going to ask you about hosting some of the photos I took pertaining to how to disassemble/reassemble things as those threads are useless once the link breaks. I need to dig around on my external and find what I can.  :tu:

I think we have some very talented photographers on the forum. It would take me forever to go through all the threads to find the ones I really like. I really enjoy a lot of members pictures and the list is to long and I do not want to leave anyone out.

As far as posting pictures I like I can post some of mine I like as again, it would take forever to go through and find all the pics from other people I enjoy.

Some of mine I enjoy.

And you're right, it's nearly impossible to sum up all the great pics that are posted here, and it's easy to forget somebody (like I forgot to mention your pics ...  :-[).

Flattering, but I do not try to be or consider myself as a photographer or try to compare with others here. I have had the same crappy camera for like 10 years and its just a point and shoot you would see someone carry in their purse or something. I wish I had a nice camera so I could really get into photography. I just snap pics for you guys and if they turn out good then all the better.  :tu:
