Making Waffles over open fire
on: February 14, 2016, 02:47:53 PM
We went skiing today, and I brought the waffle iron I got for xmas. :)

The snow was deep so I had to make a small foundation for the fire to prevent it from sinking to fast. The Fiskars X5 made short work of a birch sapling nearby.

The Mora Bushcraft Black did most of the prepping.

Fire!

Making Waffles:

The results:

They tasted delicious :)

PS.  if you get a open fire waffle iron like this, it is essential that you season it properly before using it for the first time.  I spent several hours heating it and oiling it over a gas flame at home right after I got it. I also made a whole bach of waffles in it over the same flame until the waffles stopped ripping/ getting stuck in the iron.

Ouuuh. I have been wanting one of those irons myself. Specially the bread grill one, and this waffle one in the same line.

Love those crispy edges hot iron gives. Looks so tasty.

I will have to get axe head that i got from sparky, and make handle for it. Take my girls and wife out, and make good supper for us in the woods.

you spent several hours making waffles? what happened to those waffles? disposing of them must have been hard
