And as usual the media looks to put a particular slant to make something more newsworthy. 

From the very brief research I did it seems she was on probation, was instructed several times not to tweet using the official account. But she ignored those instructions and continued to tweet from the official account so her employment was terminated. In other words she was sacked for ignoring instructions, not for that particular tweet.  I guess that's not very newsworthy: "Worker ignored instructions so boss sacked her".

If you ignore a direct instruction from your boss then it shouldn't come as a surprise if your services are no longer required.
