I posted in the stickies, but it seems the old rule "no one reads the stickies" seems to hold true.

A bit of background on my find: I did a trade with Campussecurity some time ago, as I wanted a Swisstool again. The Postal system was not on our side and we thought the Swisstool was lost, so I looked a round for used ones now and then.
When I found the one I´ll show you here, I HAD to have it, as I have read here it would only exist as a Photoshopped Ghost. I paid a premium, but thought I´d secure it for the MTO crowd.

Enough of my rather boring talk, lets start with some pics:

Looks like any other standard Swisstool.

Still does.

But with a twist....

Closer look at the `98 model plierhead:

Other side:

Details:

The tool came with a black leather sheath (Plus model with room for extra tools, but empty). I don´t know if that cam with it from the beginning.

Does anybody know anything about this variant?

Thank you. I have absolutely no use for a Cap Crimper, but just like the Gerber MP 600 EOD and ST, I could not resist.
I hope one of our resident Vic Gurus knows anything about it.

Ohhhh! Pictures!  :woohoo:

Haven't seen one of those before, I'm not a big fan of cap crimpers, but for this one I would gladly make an exception  ;).

Apparently, the blasting cap crimper can also be used for crimping electrical connections.

Great find!  I've only seen the cap crimper on BO tools.  Was this military issue, or a factory mistake?

I have no clue. I have found a (Photoshopped?) Pic of a SS one here, but otherwise only references to the BO version issued to some units of the french and Australian Army (IIRC). But I don´t think it was a mistake, I cannot imagine that the cast CC and standard heads come in the same boxes.

No, no NATO issue number, just the standard Victorinox and shield stamp and red/white Victorinoy print on the handles. It does carry the holes that accept the corkscrew, if that helps dating it. Are there other details that help narrow down the production time corridor?

Is there non of the SAK/Swisstool experts who can shed a little light on this tool?
A possible item number, was it available in shops or made for some military organisation? Have they been made for some time or only a few?
Come on, someone must have seen one in the wild or in a catalog  :pok:

Interesting thought!
I am pretty sure it has not been modified. All machining looks uniform. I think I´ll post some measure ments about the plierhead and CC and someone with a BO variant can compare, so we can be sure it is not just a - well made - mod.

Interesting that all the cap crimper models pictured have the older Left hand pivot jaws.
Has a cap crimper model with Right hand pivot jaws been made ?

It seemed like the logical place to move it to. It´s safe and in nice company and we all will be seeing far better pics than mine.
I would not have used it and received a nice Core with LM Monarch light in a trade which can be used without endangering a rare specimen of Multitool.
I´m glad it made it there safely!
And it reminds me that i need to post some pics, too.

Looks like it was probably an early prototype used to secure the first nato contracts.  Wonderful find.
