AAA Battery storage mod
on: March 15, 2016, 03:40:32 PM
I've been looking to find a way to keep a single AAA battery with my SAK and torch as a backup, but with no success. I found a case that holds 2 so I made the following:

It opens like this:

and sits in my pocket like this:

If anyone has a method for keeping a single battery (aside from using another torch) please let me know.

I use a CountyComm delrin battery locker.  Very dense plastic, completely waterproof and great for keychain carry.  I didn't buy it directly from CountyComm - I heard their service is terrible.  It was someone reselling them - can't remember who, but there are a number of places to get them.

I was coming here to say the same thing....

But I've had no probs with their shipping or service on multiple orders.

These any good?  http://ant-supplies.co.uk/Pages/KeychainWaterproofCapsules.aspx  Probably a good idea to drop a bit of foam in one end to insulate the aluminium from the terminal and stop the battery from rattling.

You'd do that for me? I'm touched Harley, but not in the way Mo likes to be.

It seems their service isn't up to much, but I can transfer cash easy peasy if you're ok to send it over.  :salute:

Why not use a second AAA light?  I carry my Fenix LD02 and a Thrunite Tis or 4/7s Preon.  I'll have a look and see if I have some Maglights AAA incan sitting around.  I can send one your way.

BTW I do like the little storage set up.  I was just throwing something else out there.

I'm pretty sure survivaldepot.co.uk carries them.  They carry a lot of the Maratac/CountyComm stuff.

I think I saw someone use a empty Chapstick container for a single AAA. I could be wrong though.

I have been meaning to try it myself as I need a cheap solution to carry a single AA and a single AAA.

Cheers buddy but the AAA is out of stock (and £18!)

I may try the much cheaper go tubes though (£2.70!)

Cheers for the suggestions all.  :salute:

Looked high and low and no Solitares   I may have gifted them away.  I run across them at the flea markets so I'll snag one or 3 when I do.

I use a super glue container that I modified with a delrin fitment ring and cap. I made it dual purpose. It also serves as a wonderful diffuser wand that fills the room with soft, even ambient light.....

Amici,
I also use and carry a County Comm battery locker for both my AA & AAA battery carry that I picked up a few years ago. My issue with this particular vendor is that their product prices outfront, appear to be reasonable, but the fault lies with their shipping.. That alone is sometimes even GREATER in cost than the actual item itself...

Kind of reminiscent of an Ebay vendor that was selling a Titanium Eagletac D25C for a mere $2.00 USD a few months ago I encountered.. The kicker was despite the super low price for the light, was that he was also charging an additional $71.00 for "Priority" shipping..

as George Horne wrote in a 1786 essay: "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me".. No thank you..

Since then, I've located a vendor that is reasonable not only with the items he stocks, but also with shipping..

Cheers,
Serge
