Weird mobile issue.
on: March 17, 2016, 08:48:19 PM
Im having weird issues with the view and formatting of this site on my phone, using the mobile version of the site. Ita hard to describe, so heres some pics.

Normally, the Operational Funds widget isnt viewable on the mobile version, but is now showing up everywhere, and is shrinking the space that the forum losts can take up. Some specific pages (such as the flags discussion in the Q&A forum) trade the operational funds widget for an extra wide post view, complete with cut off text and no ability to scroll or zoom. Changingthe orientation dosent fix this problem.

There is also a small grey "minimize" button on the top left of pages with the Operational Funds widget, but pressing it does nothing (press and holding gives me the option to save or open the picture)

This isnt the first time this has happened to me, but the last time two ish weeks ago it resolved itself, and this time it dosent seem to be fixing itself.

Any ideas?

This has been mentioned before and to be honest I can't recall what the resolution was.  I can say that if you scroll all the way to the bottom and click on the Mobile button and you will get a much more manageable version of the forum for mobile browsing.

Your device browser is reporting itself as a desktop instead of mobile which is why you see the side bar.

Switch the forum to full mode,  minimise the side bar,  switch back to mobile

Alternatively,  deselect "request desktop site" in the browser options

The issue was occurring while i was using the mobile version Grant... desktop version looks basically the same as normal on my phone,  but I hardly ever used it,  so I could be missing something there.

@Whooey it seems to have resolved itself again (clearing cookies and cache did nothing) with no discernable action on my part.  Just took a lot longer this time.  Ill try those solutions next time I have an issue, and report back with the results.

And did you try either of the solutions posted above?

Didn't work. It's happened before. I'm sure it will clear up sooner or later.

I've been using the mobile version almost exclusively lately since my computer died. No issues with it here.

actually looking at your screenshot on my desktop now I don't understand why the flag is showing as some random pic instead of:

did you clear all the mto related cache and cookies in your phone's browser?

We haven't changed anything significant for some time that would cause this.

I cleared my history and cookies last night. I do it regularly. The problem didn't show up until tonight though.

Today I was playing with the settings on my browser, and was able to replicate the problem. Whooey called it, the problem arises when the browser tries to request the desktop site in the mobile version of the site. Deselecting that option returns the browser to normal. :hatsoff: to you,  O Great Web Developer

Now to figure out what im doing to accidently select that option
