Axe User Merit Badge - Gransfors Bruks small splitting axe

Forum noob here, trying out the "merit badge functionality"  :salute:  :)

I've used this Gransfors Bruks small splitting axe for about 3 seasons, mostly to process wood for the small Morso during winter.

It is excellent, especially for splitting our local knotty Hardwoods (with a captical H), like bluegum/eucalyptus etc.

It is big enough to split bigger sections (and small enough for kindling). These were already split in 2 or 3.


For scale:


GB Compared to a cheap hardware store axe. I much prefer the GB, it is as capable in terms of splitting capacity as the much larger and heavier (1800g) Grip axe, but much less tiring.

The fixed blade is a Koster MUCK. 6 inches of 3V @ RC 60, SpecOps sheath.







The saw is a Silky Pockeyboy 170.
