This thread is right up my ally Kirky ole boy!!  It's really making me want to get the driveshafts I need for my HPI Savage.  I've gotta find stronger ones though, as the LRP .28 I put in it twists them like pretzels!
Elcon used to do parts for other cars... but I don't think savage was one, I see HPI Baja is still listed.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

The Days of RC have changed!!!

I miss running nitro motors so hot they would melt the body. Or ya know....not charging batteries

I ran a Duratrax Warhead, the Original Jato, and a Revo. Brother had a T-max.

Got out of the hobby and all I have left is a Dumas Swamp Buggy Airboat with a .61 TH TriProp on it.

Great looking build Kirky :D you ever thought about throwing a RC Rocket engine on the back? Itll MOVE

The new RC cars are so much more robust than the old ones. In the old days, you touched a wall, or a large rock and you had to buy new parts.

Update....

Took the Bull out last night, just to give it a check out run under full power. Didn't go well. Lots of rpm,but not much go! I've seen this before at work, and it's usually either the pinion gear having come loose on the motor,or one of the drive shafts not meshing.

On strip down, turned out it was the third option. The wheel hub had stripped it's spleens. Not the end of the world to repair, but slightly fustrating all the same.

After dinner I decided to drop the motor/gearbox out of the Rising Fighter and drop it into the Mad Bull(the use the same unit). I'd put roller bearings into the 'Fighter when I'd built it,so it mirrors what I'd been planning for the 'Bull. Once the spares arrive,I'll rebuild the box with the roller bearings and put it back into the 'Fighter :tu:

Problem solved? Not a damn!

Took the 'Bull out this morning. Rolled up to the grass area at low power with no problem. However,on full throttle, lots of revs and no go

On closer inspection(ie,one foot on one wheel, the lots of power) the tires are spinning on the rims

Time for some glue I think :wait:

Sounds like a few used cars I have bought in my day....

At least it seems like a relatively easy fix at least.

It's one of the joys of the Mad Bull. I've done enough repairs on them at work to have proved how idiot proof the are!

In fairness, one of the reasons I'd gone down the eBay route was for the fun of the building/repairing,and I'd begun thinking I'd done myself out of the pleasure

At rest after a late night test drive. Tires have been superglued onto the rims, and now give some actual grip :D

Looks good :tu: when I took the pics earlier I noticed I still had my wrench I got with my grasshopper, and low and behold you got it right there in the one pic with the two multitools.

So,I had the 'Bull out for its first proper run this morning, down along the side of the Hogsmill.

Hmmm,what can I say?

What about  :D :D :D :D :D?

Or

😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😊?

What a blast! Got about 20-25 minutes runtime off the 3300mAh battery. The 'Bull rode the bumps and lumps beautifully. Yes,there's lots of bump steer, but,TBH,it added to the fun!

Now,it doesn't accelerate as quickly as the 'Fighter would on its smaller wheels, but while I tended to roll it every couple of minutes. The 'Bull never even looked like flipping :tu:

Next thing will be putting the 'Fighter onto big wheels too >:D

Lol, how many rpm? I had one in my one old r/c that was 50k, that thing flew! But it was more for on-road, I'll put it to this way I went over one of those like 2'x3' storm drains and it didn't flip, it like hovered over it!

The sport tuned is somewhere about 27-9k. It's apparently a bit quicker than the stock can,and about the max the chassis will take

I like the new look- is that all just decals or did you paint it too?

Strategic use of some green GTi stripe, some Spanish slotcar stickers, and some freebie stickers from a mountain bike magazine.

I've a new shell on its way to me,which I'll be painting up in a scheme inspired by Alan Mann Racing

May not need to. I chucked a lowball bid at a Holiday Buggy DT02 on eBay earlier, and much to my horror won

I'll be needing decals for that at some point soon :ahhh

There's a lot of super trick stuff out there, but Tamiya is pretty idiot proof, the spares are easily available.

Oh,and budget for two..I'll bet Megan will end up wanting one too!

I saw one on ebay for about $100 and had a hell of a time convincing myself that I didn't have the money to spend on it right now.

The replacement driveshaft arrived today,so the Mad Bull gearbox has been rebuilt, with the plastic brushings now replaced with the roller bearrings, and reinstalled in the Rising Fighter.

The new hubs are due later this week,as are the parts to convert the 'Fighter to run on big wheels like the 'Bull.

Guess what I'll be up to on Sunday?

I presume in your case "pink kayak" is an euphemism...
oh, that reminds me of the lady that went to the doctor because she found stamps from Honduras in her "whatever goes between 'wris' and 'ch' to spell a timepiece". To this the doctor replied: those are not stamps...
