I doubt it.  She'll be too busy rolling her eyes at me fore getting one to think about driving it.

Def
Put a rubber duck on top of it and let her shoot at it... :D
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Small fleet update...

The Rising Fighter now sits on big wheels...it's insane  >:D

The Mad Bull has been fitted with oil dampened shocks and a Tamiya Sport Tuned motor. The red rims are just bling, but they're nice!

And the white one? What's that you ask?

That's the Holiday Buggy I won on eBay.

The car is great...hate the body. Really hate the body. Hence...

Amazing what you can do with a Dremel,a Marlboro Vic Standard and a couple of files

So,what's been the upshot of the mods?

Well...

The  Holiday Buggy runs on a low power 380 motor. The upshot is it gives over an hour of runtime on a 3300mAh battery. I spent about an hour and a half out on the trails along the Hogsmill this morning, doing the kind of stuff Def and Dmac do in jeeps.

The Rising Fighter is just mental...it just is!

The Mad Bull was fun, quickish and very stable. Now,it's just an animal! The Sport Tune motor is lots faster, maybe more than the car can use, even with CVA oil shocks, but man,it's fun to drive!

Hey hey Did someone say vintage Tamiya ?

Your holiday bug has the same tub and running gear as the sand rover? One serious fault to look for is the plastic around the area where the front shocks attach, prone to cracking. If they are cracked all is not lost. You can fabricate a new mount from sheet Alu and bolt/screw to the tub.
Oh and put the right body back on with the cool dude wearing the cowboy hat!

I have original sand rover, saved up my pocket money for it years ago. In now needs a rebuild, it's so bloody old Tamiya have done a re release!

Hello stranger :waving:

It's not the original,it's the 2010 rerelease,on a DT02 chassis. And yes,they've rereleased the Sand Rover too.

There's no way the old body is going back on,but the driver figure may well get transplanted into the new shell

Ah yes, now on the PC I can see the holes in the bonnet (hood).

I'm glad they re released the sand rover, I need a few parts. My man is missing, and the gear stick.

I like this thread, getting me thinking about RC bugs again.

Off to ebay for spares, or is there anywhere else I should be looking?

It's surprising what you find covered at MTO....  :pok:

I know what you mean about getting the bug- I find myself looking at parts and complete sets as well.  Thankfully I'm currently quite broke and trying to lighten my load since I'm moving!

You had to mention boats....  :pok:

I've also been considering a decent RC boat, which might be fun to take kayaking with me!

I keep meaning to get back to my kayak model,  she really needs a keel fin with ballast.  It is fun having a chase boat.

Keep it as a shelf queen

I see your point, really didn't know how much these old ones had gone up in price. Don't want to sell it, as it's part of my childhood. So yes, buy one new one and run it, rebuild the old one, make it look good.

Restore the original,it'll be money in the bank. The modern DT02 based one is probably a better driving car, good for having a bit of fun :tu:
