I bought some Maxpedition pouches about a year ago, and I'm very happy with them.
The zipper-pulls were a bit loose, so after playing with the cords, I came up with this knot.
I've been using it for all sorts of things, so I thought I'd post a little guide for it.
No idea what the knot is called, though I'm sure others have come up with it.
It's quick and easy to tie. Because the two ends meet at an angle, the cord creates a loop, making it easy to put a finger through it and open a zip. It is also quite tight. Pulling it does not loosen it.
Step 1Make a squiggly with one end.
Step 2Rest the other end in the squiggly.
Step 3Bring the other end around the knot.
Step 4Pull the end through the big loop, and the little loop above it.
Step 5Tighten.
Double knotAfter the first knot, you will end up with two free ends and a loop.
Twist the loop so that one end is in front of the other.
Twist the loop again so that the other end is in front of one free end.
Pull that end through the loop.
Pull the other end through the opposite loop.
Pull the first end through the loop that the other end created.
Tighten.
You can continue tying knot upon knot, to make a straight zipper-pull or lanyard, instead of a loop.
That's it, I guess. If you happen to know the knot's name, do tell.
