Need Some Help, Searching for Knipex
on: April 18, 2016, 09:08:50 AM
Finally got my tax return, looking for some Knipex Needle Nose for a fishing setup.

They HAVE to be "26 15 200 T"

The T stands for Tether, and it's mandatory. Also, Chrome plated is a must.

I can't find them online unless they're 60 USD.

Can anyone else find them? I'm not opposed to buying overseas and having them shipped if it's a lower price. Are they cheaper for overseas members?

I have browsed quickly, but those seem to run between 15-26 € (have tpo check if before or after tax) here.
So yes, they seem to be cheaper here.

There is a thread around here about someplace having a Knipex sale. Maybe they have some?

I wish :/

They only have 1 of the needle nose versions that's similar. It is cheap though!

How much is shipping overseas, usually? (Same rate both ways??)

I believe 26€ to USD comes out to roughly 30$, even 15$ in shipping is still a deal.

I will have to investigate if the prices apply for the "T" model, too, the quick search this morning brought up mostly standard models, but i´m sure it will only be a small premium for the Tether.

Shipping should be around 6,- € for a registered letter (up to 500g)

If you have some time, I can just buy one teh next time I need to go to one of teh better hardware stores and send it over. I must warn you that shipping sometimes takes me ages, though. It´s a combination of the 2 kids I want to spend time with after work, strange opening hours of the post office and me being entangled in a job and a half.

The Knipex sale was mentioned here, I guess:

Thanks bud, im not in any huge rush.

If you can find a tethered model let me know and I'll take one!

I've got a few local tool trucks that owe me a few favors. I've got them looking into it as well.

Apparently they are very recently released, some carriers expect 3 to 12 months before they hit the states.

Knipex is my favorite for hand tools since I discovered them. My next Knipex purchase will be bolt cutter. Not the mini bolt cutters (which I want as well), but the legit big boy bolt cutters.

I need to get a pic of my Knipex tools so far.

You may be able to figure out a way to make the model you get into a tethered model. Just have to be creative, or have a good drill bit and hole it. Then attach a split ring.

You could make it tethered with some shrink tubing and paracord.

I think that's the current plan.

Hopefully I can find a tether that's plastic or rubber as to resist water absorption

Really not happy with JB Tools. They had by far the best price, but they only contact via email, and there is no shipping info other than a confirmed address.

I reached out on GarageJournal and found the owners email address.

He reviewed my order and found that the item was on special order, it will be to them in 3-4 days and to me 4-5 days after that.

For future reference, these are superb needle nose pliers, with loops for a lanyard. The red ones are NWS, the blue ones are also NWS, but rebranded Irwin. NWS goes for about £24, the Irwin branded version £12, an absolute steal!

I remember looking at the NWS but something about them was off. Chrome plating maybe?

Ill definetly keep an eye out for those Irwins though, thats a steal!

The red VDE NWS ones are chromium plated, the Irwin ones appear painted or BO coated. Both should give protection from rust until heavy use breaks the coating? What I like about this style of pliers, is the circular cut out for the cutters, the shape means you can use it as a further set of pliers, making them a very useful set of stand alone combination pliers. I have a pair of both the NWS and the Irwin branded version, and they are without doubt my most used set of pliers. ( I keep my VDE tools for electric work only, and look after them very carefully after suffering a huge shock a few years back!)

Been using these for 2 months or so! Great pliers. Tiny bit of rust spot the other day inside the teeth but it wiped off. They see some intense salt water
