vic classic tweezers looseness fix
on: April 23, 2016, 06:39:03 AM
anybody have a solution to this? they seem to come out by themselves on this model, and I've always seen pics of them missing. Aside from putting some tape on them has anybody got a better fix for this issue?

Pop scales off, and flip them upside down. So that tweezers are next to keyring, not at the other end that they now are.

You could also twist ends of those tweezers a little for then to have better retention.

They come off easy. Just warm them a bit, then push small blade of a sak under scale and turn.

Maybe i should of said bend rather than twist

Hang on, don't go taking any scales off just yet.

Take the tweeezer, and put a drop of crazy glue or any other epoxy on each side of the gray plastic handle and let dry before you put it back in the knife scale. The drop of crazy glue will add a tiny bit more width to the gray tweezer head, and make it fit a bit more snug in the handle slot. If it's still to loose, add another drop of crazy glue and wait till dry. Go slowly don't add too much too quick. And make sure it's dry before you put it back in the knife!!!!

All you are doing with this is making the gray tweezer head a bit bigger for a tighter fit. No more problem. Victorinox needs to be more on top of this issue, as it seems like most new 58's have loose tweezers.

Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

Normally what I do is spread out the either side.

I just put the SAK in a vice (tweezers and toothpick removed) with a cloth covering the scales to protect them. After that, the toothpick and tweezers fit quite snug.
The right tool is the one you have on you

I never understood how everyone always looses the toothpick/tweezers. I have yet to ever lose either on the Classic or any model for that matter. Maybe I'm just lucky.

My grandmother has been dragging the Classic SD I gave her all over creation for some time, and the tweezers/toothpick are still quite snug. Never had the problem on my old Classic either... Though I did eventually lose the whole knife

I guess all we've learned here is it's an inconsistent problem, with some fortunately simple solutions.

Neither have I, but every once in awhile you get an old one that has loose tools (my Champ had a loose toothpick so I tried a few until I got the right fit, I don't this it was the original one) or when I make my own scales the tweezers occasionally need extra help.

thanks for the suggestions

what I did was take some scotch magic tape, cut it about 1-2 mm and wrapped it around the insert point, it gives it good holding strength without altering anything really
