Which pouch for SwissChamp & Cybertool 34
on: April 26, 2016, 02:15:43 AM
I have a SwissChamp and have a CT34 on the way.
The CT34 does not come with a pouch, and I made a crude one for my SwissChamp.

I've been looking for Victorinox pouches for both, yet they seem too hard to find.
I keep seeing pouches for SwissChamp XL etc.

Do the pouches come with serial numbers?
Could you let me know what number/size pouch I'm looking for?

Thanks.

The large clip-on leather pouch should accommodate either of them, as long as you put them in correctly.

VIC-33256;

Note that larger SAKs will not fit in the orientation shown there. You'll want to put the knife in with the front layer tools facing out, away from the clip.
You could also try the Zermatt, if you want a more traditional pouch. I think Vic makes a number of other sheaths that would work, but I don't own any of them so I don't know where to point you beyond this.

Like Leatherman does.

I think I got it.

Too bad they don't ship it.
Looked it up on ebay. Shipping is as much as the pouch.  :-\

sigh. Still looking.

The Leatherman Wave pouch fits fat SAKs very well. It's cheap too, at $5.  I carried a Craftsman in one, and it was a tad loose, so it should fit a fatter Swiss Champ well.

Isn't there any local leather sheath company that has something similar in size? Some other knife or tool brand that has a sheath you could use?

The Vic catalogue is pretty crappy for pouch compatibility info isn't it.  But model number 4.0521.3 is one that will fit the 5-8 layer 91mm knives.  That's a black leather/velcro closure one.  It's a snug fit for a CT41 or Swiss Champ.

Nice looking. A bit expensive. So many choices, yet so few...

After posting the above pic I decided to carry my sc in this sheath while on a bike ride, was nearly a disaster  as when I stopped to cut a low branch of a tree the flap was open , the Velcro had failed . I've carried my sc in pocket for years with no problems  but maybe the 2nd time I've used the sheath nearly cost me my sc

Though I'd feel pretty smurf if I lost my SC.
My Minichamp and Wenger handyman are in mail limbo, and I'm frustrated as it is, I can't imagine loosing a SC.

Wow! You could've probably put a snap button in the sheath. It looked ok, apart from the velcro.

Like Leatherman does.

If you look at the Victorinox pdf catalogue, next to each knife there is a pouch symbol with one or more numbers. These numbers correspond to the pouches that can be used with the knife, which can be found in the same catalogue at the end, in the pouches section. You can find a pdf catalogue here, for example: https://assets.victorinox.com/medias/SAK-catalogue-2017-EN.pdf?context=bWFzdGVyfHJvb3R8MjAxMjg0ODd8YXBwbGljYXRpb24vcGRmfGhiNS9oNDEvODg2NjY3NzM1ODYyMi5wZGZ8OGM5ODMzNjZhZmM1NTYzNDBiNWI3ZjgyNjZmYTZkODkzYzMzMjc2ZmFiYzI0ZjVkZjhiNDIxMzQwMmIwNDQ3ZQ

Missed this topic the first time ...

So I know it's an old topic, but I do have to ask.  Was the sheath new when you got it ?  Since you say it was the second time you used it, but the leather shows quite some use compared with a new one, and the velcro patch on the inside is not the original anymore, so if you got it second hand, changes are it had seen a lot of use already, and the velcro had been a problem with the previous owner and he tried to fix it by replacing the velcro part on the flap.

I don't know the history behind this sheath, but I do know it doesn't look like it was only used twice.  I own two of them and consider them the best sheaths out there for belt carrying my Swisschamp.
