I'm a believer in the "No shelf queens" policy.  Let's see who else is.  :)  For the month of May, the only SAKs and MT's I'm going to carry are discontinued models.  Unlike regular challenges, this one will allow a rotation.  As long as the tool is no longer available from the factory, it's allowed.  This includes "pure" Wengers.  For the "real" Schrade owners like myself, US made ST1's are allowed.  If you carry, say, a Wenger Evo16 and a Wave, I'll allow it. Part of your carry is no longer made. :) This starts Sunday. Who's with me? :tu:

I follow the same policy. Hell i would scrap gun off my shoe with a CRK. But I don't really have anything not made anymore. A Wenger and Vic and an old school SOG Powerlock and Paratool. Now if I can carry my usual folder with these few I have, I am in.

That's us mobile

Sounds like fun to me! Allowing rotation could be almost too much fun. I'm gonna go all-out and limit myself to:
  • Wenger Nomad
  • Leatherman Core
  • Casio Riseman GW-9200
  • CRKT Tighecoon
  • Klarus ST11
I had to check and make sure on the Klarus, but it has been superseded by the ST12. I was going to take the Olight M18, but I couldn't confirm it was actually no longer made. That should pretty much cover everything I could ever need, and make sure I'm only ever carrying discontinued stuff. I can't promise interesting pictures every day, and half of this stuff is just going to ride in my bag most of the time, but this is still going to be a cool challenge.

So, this is the first time I've done one of these, but it seems like most people make their own thread to chronicle their adventures, right? I'll do that and post pics of everything on Sunday. :tu:
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Sounds like you have a nice rotation already set! Pics every day, other day, every Sunday - as long as they're discontinued tools, I'm easy. :tu:

Great idea for a challenge! I don't dare join in though, since I'm going to travel (and by plane).

I'm in with a Flair... and a few others. It's going to be fun thinking 'did I leave it behind' all the time.

Ill join. Do the OG Juices count?

And does the entire carry have to be discoe'd, or just part of it?

They count. And like I said, only part of it. Want to carry a PST and a Delemont? Go for it. Carrying a Scientist and a Wave? Post it!

I like the idea I do have the slight problem of being on vacation and not having my full collection.  But my Juice, which was made with all OG parts (an 06 and 10), so if that counts.  Might look and see if SMKW has any discontinued knives.

Since I normally carry an original Wenger Traveler or Pocket Tool Chest I guess I'm in by default. However I normally don't carry old, rare valuable knives, so more out than in.

Travelers more than count. I'm planning on carrrying my Swiss Sportsman Sunday.  Folks, don't be carrying those mint 1890's and such for this.  Unless you really want to..... :)

Also apparently the Helmsman is discontinued, and I have one with me.

Can anyone confirm that Vic discontinued the Helmsman it was not in the 15 or 16 catalogues.

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure I had an option for every element in my pantheon of daily tools: pliers MT, SAK, folding knife, watch, light. I try to make sure I have all these things with me every day. Not always on my person, but at least nearby. :salute:

I do want to stress, folks, that at the moment there is no badge for this at the moment.  I posted this without consulting Whoey, Lobsterboy, or that other guy, what's his name? You know who I'm talking about, the guy with the Jeep and the pink kayak...... ;)

Well, if there is no badge, make one.  :tu:
Also, "Good Old Days" sounds nice, but those initials will look weird on the tiny icon.

Pfft I do this everyday already.

Something about old tools is very pleasing to me. OC SAK's, PST's I love and use them all.

Anyways I am so in.

I carry my LM PST II and original Super Tool frequently, and most of my folders are by companies that no longer produce their stuff in the USA (Colonial, Imperial Schrade, Boker, Camillus), plus the Victorinox Craftsman's no longer in the catalog , 93mm Soldier was replaced by the 111mm Soldier for Swiss issue, and the 108mm GAK hasn't been made in at least 30 years.

Heck, 3/4 of what's in my EDC rotation hasn't been made in years, so I guess I'm in, but I have to figure out just what I'll carry for this.

Brass liner Farmer in my pocket and a BO PST Uno in a well worn original leather sheath. Do not feel the slightest bit under geared.

I think I will go with a LM Pulse and Vic Vagabond today :tu:

Perhaps for work I will mostly carry the OG LM Supertool and either a Wenger or my Vagabond  :tu:

I'm afraid it wouldn't be much of a challenge as I also pretty much do this everyday already.

I only have two modern Leatherman's and one SAK the rest of my tools are all retired models.
