I had to go to one of my favorite stores today- a place called Princess Auto, which should be a familiar name to Canadians. To everyone else it is a place where you can buy all kinds of hardware things- tools, tractor tires, various pumps, jacks, toolboxes etc, as well as overstock and surplus items like cheap phone chargers, gun cases and targets. While picking up a tarp this morning I found this little gem, and for $6.99 it just had to come home with me.
It's a digital ACU radio case and it is designed for MOLLE use, so I can see it hanging on one of numerous other bags and packs that I have kicking around.
I had a quick look at it in the store and was reasonably impressed, especially when I saw this particular tag.
Anyone familiar with Princess Auto knows that while they have a lot of good stuff, they also carry a lot of cheap crap, so I was surprised to see the Made in USA label. That doesn't necessarily mean it is good quality, but it is a much better sign than some others. It also has this tag:
Maybe some one here has better info than me, but these look like military stock numbers?
Undo the buckle at the top and the whole thing flips open to allow access to the interior pockets. It is obviously set up for a specific type of equipment that I don't have, so I am not certain what I am going to use it for, but while looking at it I got a bit of an idea....
It looked to be about the right size for my Samsung Galaxy S5 with it's Otterbox Defender case, so I tried it and sure enough, it fits!
The cutout on the outside flap is large enough to see the time and any notifications that come up, and there's still room for other cool stuff in the pouch, so there's definitely some potential there.
As if that wasn't enough, there's also a small velcro loop for a pen or flashlight.
All in all I figure this thing is well worth the $7 I paid for it, and even though I really don't have a use for it, I'm already giving serious thought to going back and getting a bunch more of them!
