Folding metallic measure, and planes
on: May 15, 2016, 06:49:16 PM
I am looking metallic folding measure in cm scale. Can have inches also, but cm is must. Used one is just great.

Also used planes with casted frame is something i am looking for. Must have all parts.

I do not mind rust or little to do to make it work.

No worries mate. My interests and needs change at a times. You do not owe me anything.

Yes, i need wood plane. I was making a garden table from old pallets today, and noticed my two planes are not enough. Need something between good and poor ones :D

I will see if I can sort them out and take a picture to see if they are what you are looking for

As for measures, may I try to talk you into getting a TALmeter? I'm very fond of mine. The precision should be superior to a folding measure since it uses the metal points to measure and mark the work-piece. New ones are costly but used ones show up here quite regularly and I should guess you should be able to find them in Finland too.

Functions include inside measure, compass (marking round shapes) and the best feature, not having to remember the actual lengths (the lock is good enough so you can move between measuring and marking without error).

I am familiar with this type measures, and can say they are great.

As i am working small wood projects from time to time, i like these old type foldable ones.

Today i was working with wooden foldable Bahco measure, and my daughter took it. As she was playing with it, she tried to fold it open. Pulling it wrong wa,  she broke 40 cm from it. New one of these Bahco costs less than 5 euros, but i have been looking for metallick ones for some time now.

It is more of an old worn tools, than new shiny stuff for me. I like traditional tools better sometimes.

Good looking measure and knife. Is that 100 cm long?

I am a little fan of old tools. I love using them.

Last summer i saw couple at carboot sales. I thought they had too much wear on them, and did not bother asking on them. Other i could barely see numbers on it. Other bit better, but locks on pivots were quite worn. Still looking good ones...
