I do not think I could count that high.

A friend asked me if I could look after her 3 year old for a few hours. I was going to say yes until I realized all the sharps within easy reach of a 3 year old that my house contained. That thought scared me, and it would take a long time to kid proof my house...it wasn't worth the hassles. Luckily, she found someone quickly after I was forced to decline the offer.

There is an answer to that problem.

Tell you what, my Finn Wolf got it's thumb stud out on saturday early evening....after a few beers....
Took a worn out 400 grit belt and a few passes and a polish later I had a scary sharp scandivex edge on there.

Looking at the folding knives in today's market, you will find majority of them are either clip / drop point or tanto knives with blade length between 2~4", which are perfectly fine. But if you are wanting something else, then you must look at Cold Steel's offerings.

Beside the usual stuff, they brought the old classic knives / swords around the world back to life; Navaja, Scimitar, Kukri, Kopis, Stiletto, Karambit, Dirk, in compact folding packages.

Strong, good value and aggressive, those are the characteristic of Cols Steel knives.

Plus, Cold Steel is the only knife company that openly support the NRA, which I am a life time member of.  :salute:

Weekend love  :ahhh

Might be a dumb question, but what is that fixed blade?

No, please, not dumb at all  :salute:

it is a knife by the Japanese company G.Sakai (makers of the Salt series from Spyderco). It has H1 steel, an awesome multi position sheath and excellent slicing ability.

Long, thin, like a kitchen knife on steroids. This is the model SABI 3, there are about 10-12 different models (SABI series) featuring H1 steel, this was the one that appealed me the most.

It is amongst my favorite blades, a joy to carry and use. Thin, lightweight, stabby and slicey, very capable and tougher than it looks.

I recommend it, and the brand in general, for slipjoints, kitchen, outdoors, fishing, kayak and water-oriented knives of all kind.

Excellent quality for the money.  :tu:

I really like it. I was immediately struck by the elegant, utilitarian design. It really does look like a kitchen knife that took a level in badass. That thin blade must slice like crazy. Thanks for the info and the great pics!

Today carried the H-O.II for the first time as main folder.

It's got such a useful yet simple blade shape, much like the Sakai fixed blade.

Cuts like the dickens with that grind. Stabs like a darn needle, ultra fine and thin tip.

It's not nearly as nice as the Grohmann that it copied, but for the price it's actually a nice little knife in its own right.  One of these days you should get an original Grohmann to compare it to.  They are gorgeous.

This is as close as Cold Steel should get to the Grohmann design.

And with a Puma White Hunter, another outdoors classic knife:

And a straight up beauty shot!

Thanks!!!  It's a good tough one. Several years ago we had a bad ice storm and Dad, against everyone's advice, went out to the truck to warm it up and defrost the windows. Shortly after, I heard my mom yell that Dad had slipped. Already knowing what it was like outside, I came out the door with that battle ax. It had been a huge storm which laid down 2" of ice which had frozen solid overnight. Dad had made it to the truck, grabbed the wheel, stepped up, lost his footing and was hanging half in, half out. It was incredibility slick so I chopped a quick 12" wide trench (down to the grass) across and around the side of the truck, (took about 45 sec) then lifted him loose and guided him back through the broken trench in the ice.

Dried it off, put it up and forgot about it...checked it today and it's still sharp enough to cut wood...no dull spots, no rolled edge   I'm sold on this ax.
