Guess who used the Sitka today?

Don't tell Megan I snapped this pic or I will be in deep doo doo!

She's been biking to work and needed a pack with enough space for a change of clothes and her purse.  The MEC sling bag I have wasn't big enough so out came the Sitka!

Score one for Maxpedition!

She needs some MTO stickers on that - free advertising, as she cycles.

I used mine today. Great pack. Seems like a great balance in all the things I needed in a bag. I got the Type S , not a lefty but it feels right carrying it over right shoulder.

For me better always a backpack with 2 straps.

In my opinion sling bags should be banned

One side carry is bad for shoulder and back. Time to time...

Don't understand this preference for shoulder bags with significant loads and long distances to carry...

I don't carry mine with significant loads, just a water bottle, maybe my Surface tablet.  For heavy carry i use my Rush 72. That thing is a hoss.

I can see a couple of reasons why people prefer a sling/messenger bag. Apart from the fact that it looks better (imo) theyv are also easier to put on and take off, useful if your going to jump in and out of a car or if you often need access to the contents.
There's also an easily overlooked advantage in that it allows your back to breathe. I'm used to a relatively cold Sweden and while backpacking in central and southern Europe my back has been dripping with sweat after no time with my backpack. Not so with my smaller daypack.

Good to know!  I love my Sitka, Megan hates it.  For heavy loads you absolutely need a proper pack, but I find for light to medium loads I much prefer a sling bag.

And, when I was injured, a sling bag worked perfectly with my crutches, while a backpack would have gotten in the way.

I wonder if I should pick up another type s before they are all gone. Looks like MaxPed is going to continue to carry the regular one but discontinuing the right shoulder carry type s. Quite a few other type s models, too.

I'll admit, I was thinking about it too....

But then I have been using Maxpedition stuff hard for quite a few years now and it could all be made to look almost new with a good cleaning, and I've never worn one out yet, so I wonder how long it would be before I would need to bust a spare out?
