Fish scaler in use

I really with they never stopped making the tip magnetic on these, makes it more useful for me, much more so than the ruler markings. But of coarse the best use by far is the pickle picker.

Pickle picker? That's as great a use for the fish scaler as pumpkin cutter!

The funny thing is that I actually fish quite a bit and I'll filet the walleye, yellow perch, and catfish I catch. But I've never used the scaler for its intended purpose, I always just take the skin off too when I'm cleaning the fish. And I'll use pliers to get the hook out if it's in deep. Maybe one of these days I'll give it a shot, it'll probably work very well just like all the vic tools. Oh and I'll definitely try it this fall if we do pumpkins, looks like it would work better than most tools designed for carving pumpkins.

I did the same over the weekend. One of my girls picked up some Zesty Bread and Butter. Took a block of cheese, sliced it up and ate with the pickles. If you have not tried a cheese pickle, you'd be surprised. Put one of your favorite pickles inside any ol' lunch cheese and fold in half. Or just try it with a slab of cheese and pickle on top.

Actually I have tried cheese and pickles, and I'm definitely a big fan. I love really good stinky cheese, the more mold the better. Goes together with aged meat like it was meant to. Big fan of the cured meats too, love a good charcuterie platter.
