Bending a pocket clip into a dangler?
on: June 26, 2016, 09:37:02 PM
I found a pocket clip from a knife.  It has a W cut into it so it appears to be from a Winchester branded knife.  It looked to me like it would make a good dangler if it could be rebent.

So the question is, has anybody done something like this?  Should it be heated or can it be bent cold?

I searched, but didn't find a thread where this was discussed.  Surely one of you machinist/craftsman types would have a sense of what could be done.

Thanks,
Sharkey

I would assume bending it cold would not come close to working, but it all depends on the material used for the clip. I have broken many Benchmade and Spyderco clips just trying to add a little tension by bending them slightly.

Yes heat it. If its stainless then chances are you can heat it slowly without loosing too much heat treat
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?
