If my mega folder fell out my pocket would cause a small earthquake, everyone around me would notice.
Very sad stories, but it's good to know I'm not alone. I had almost lost my Vulcan once. Now that was scary good to hear some made it back home. Or at least at a family members house Quote from: Kampfer on July 07, 2016, 02:40:30 AMIf my mega folder fell out my pocket would cause a small earthquake, everyone around me would notice. and I'm sure...(Image removed from quote.)
I lost my favorite folder on a planetarium at a museum years ago, it fell out of my pocket (was being carried unclipped) while I was sitting watching the stars and the show. I realised at the museum's shop, but when I went back it had already disappeared (another show had started and ended on the very same room, so many people had gone through that place in just an hour)
Years ago I lost one that was really, really special, and I felt pretty damned bad about it, until fortunately it resurfaced a few hours later. Some of the long (long, long long!) time members will remember a modder named Scibeer- his real name was (and I suppose still is....) Bill, and he made me a beautiful micarta scaled OHT- it's the top one in this photo:I had it in my pocket and took it to work. My job back then was driving a cargo truck and picking up bags of clothing, hotel linens etc for a dry cleaning company, and just after I had tossed a bunch of bags in the back I noticed that my knife was missing. I searched everywhere but it was nowhere to be found. I can't honestly describe how crappy I felt- it would have been bad enough losing a knife, but I felt even worse losing a custom knife, and even worse still because I'd lost a gift from a friend. Finally I decided it was lost and I wasn't going to get it back so I left, finished my route and went back to the depot, where I started unloading bags, and found my knife, clipped to one of them! As I was tossing the bags in the back of the truck one must have caught on the pocket clip and hauled the knife out. All of the upset from earlier washed away as I found the knife, realized what happened and noted that there weren't any scratches on it, the clip wasn't bent or ripped out.... Def

DefGot lucky there, man. And might I add; holy smurf those are nice! Yeah, they are gorgeous. I think if Bill was still around he'd be driving around in a solid gold Mercedes bought with the proceeds of his mods. He did some gorgeous knives, and I consider myself very lucky to have a few of them, including a blue ALOX Huntsman and a couple of HAIII anodized models.I had one of the HAIII (virtually indestructible) mods with me when I went to Portland, Maine a while back for the MTO meetup at Lake Sebago, and I showed it to the owner of Freeport Knife Shop named Doug Dillman. Doug used to work for Victorinox and worked a lot with Dan Jacquart from the Official Victorinox Collector's Society, and I believe now runs the Society. I told him there was no way he could scratch it, and he didn't believe me, so he pulled a quarter out of his pocket and started gouging away at it. My confidence took a serious drop as I watched little silver flakes fly everywhere, but when he stopped, it turned out he had been grinding away the quarter, like cheese on a grater!Def
Year ago I went trekking in winter trough wood and I lost my LM rebar BO.I carried in a nylon LM sheath in horizontal position. Big mistake, it slipped between the flap and the body of the sheath, perhaps it was not very tight closed.Argggggggggggggg!!!!

Most of the time when you see a black name brand MT it will be BO.
LostTold it many times, New Years Day wildfire in '06 took my parent's farm along with 99.9% of my collection. The fire was so hot it reduced SAKs to a pile of blades that you could bend like a paperclip (which I did with a 108mm SAK blade). My entire sporting goods store stock of SAKs and traditionals plus what I had collected over the years was gone.Found (at my house in West Texas) I had these left: (from 40+ years of collecting)1 Pioneer (my first, from '83)1 Western hunting knife1 Mora1 Case HawkbillSome pix....
